Condensate and temp
    #23382884 - 06/26/16 03:41 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Hi all. I use PC, i cooked like for 1-1.5 hours. I checked jars, i see some condensate and wet spots. I dryed grains good, i used lots of vermi. My air filters are cotton pads and medical patch, and i used foil to cover jars. But it still gets wet inside. Why? Is it critical, bcz of bacteria? (its like few wet spots, water drops on side of jar)
Also i do double sterilization

Also i dont have stable temp at my house. Its like : afternoon its 27, night temp is around 26. I use conditioner anyway. Will it be fine for shrooms to grow?

there's always couple grains that look more wet than others when u pull out of PC.

its not critical unless there is pooling.  shake them up before using them.

i dunno about ur filters nurse jackie…cotton/medical patch?

a one degree difference 26-27 is stable

an AC in fine unless ur doing SGFC i guess.

Heh i tried polyfil, it failed. I tried silicon, but was stupid not adding air filter, so verry slow grow. Take a look at results:

Double PC, with foil, etc. A lot of vermi, tight lids. Do i have chance? I tried 1 jar with antibiotics, 2 without

ive used simply JUST poly-fil on my lids for 10 YEARS. it comes down to sterile technique. i personally believe a 1/4" hole on the lid, packed tight with poly-fil is ALL you need. this provides enough GE during colonization, and keeps the bacteria's out long enough for full colonization.

also why not the fill the jars a little more with grains instead of 1/4th to 1/2?

fair enough. what do you mean by water though? the condensation in the jars? thats absolutely normal. just make sure you have foil on top of your jars during PC'ing. this will keep excess moisture from getting in i think... dont quote that.

also make sure you dont have water pooling on the bottom of your jars. you WANT your grains to be hydrated, just not soaking wet.

that amount of condensation is completely normal. again, what you want to watch out for is actual pooling on the bottom of the jar.

dont shake until they are 25-35% colonized. at this point shaking will actually decrease colonization time by spreading the colonized grains. though with only a 1/4th filled jar this will be fairly quick lol.

just gotta be patient and wait for the myc to grow after you inoculate. in my case on my current grow, all my jars are showing mycelial growth by day 4. now its day 7 and most of my jars are getting to about 10-15% colonization. i see a shake coming by day 11-14 for my jars.

ill be putting up a grow log tonight for this particular grow. maybe you can follow it and learn a thing or two. while im no expert, i HAVE had about 15 truly successful grows :p
