How long is the Psilocybe subaeruginosa season in Victoria, Australia?

Hi everyone,
This winter was my first time finding and eating magic mushrooms. I found a nice patch of about 30 Psilocybe subaeruginosa a few weeks ago, and I've been checking back on it every week, but there are no new mushrooms. There are a few very old ones that have turned black, and maybe 2 or 3 OK-looking ones, but no healthy-looking ones, and no new pins. I did use scissors, and tried not to disturb the mycelium.
How does the lifecycle for this species work? Do they keep fruiting while the weather conditions are right, or do they fruit once and then that's the end of the season? I'd like to collect some more while the weather conditions are right, but I'm worried that I've missed my chance now.

Hey bud new to this myself so probably wait for one of the more experienced guys but everything I read suggests the season goes until August.
Provided the mycelium is in tact and we keep getting the rain then keep an eye on that patch they should continue in cycles right through.

Try to find other spots in addition to the one you already have. Probably it is just having a little "break" in fruiting, and there will be more fruits again in a couple of weeks. I rarely see spots where mushrooms are continually popping the whole season.
But as mentioned, always try to have a handful of alternatives. That way you still can have something even if someone else are picking too. That might also be the reason for you not finding any more now - other hunters.
Keep hunting, and good luck!

I have found subs as late as the end of august in tassie, so there is no reason to say the season cant last as long in Vic.
but, a given spot can only flush a limited amount of times in a given season, untill all available nutrients have been used.
spots that fruit later in the year are usually because of a combination of increased moisture and decreased temperature, i.e spots that get more sun are more likely to fruit later in the season. i am thinking this is because of increased humidity due to lack of moisture evaporation.
revisit old spots and look in the surrounding areas, spots that may have seemed inactive in may may now be booming.
