I'm just curious if any shroomites here are in the movie or tv industry. If you don't mind if you are in it what do you do and do you enjoy it?

I actually have worked on commercials for Carl's Jr.,Superman vs. Batman ,Storage wars and a few others. I mainly edited finished projects. You would not believe how retarded of mistakes even the most amazing writers make. They just let the ideas flow and let people like me correct their grammar, spelling or phrasing. The actual work I lived and I was honored to work for some of the people I did "mainly Zach Snyders higher ups" I never met Zach himself though unfortunately. Also NEVER agree to do something for free unless you get in WRITTEN form an agreement that you will recieve credit because I was told I would but didn't. The person that gave me most of these opportunities is so high up in the company when he went to go shoot Superman vs. Batman he bought a 2 story house in Detroit just to have a nice place while he was shooting. He fully furnished the whole place and then when he got back he went to Hawaii for The new King Kong. I can't say what he does because it's easy to look up but jobs like "key grip" just require muscle and the ability to stand for hours and move things around.
Good luck

I produced music for TV and film for many years, the drugs got to me though as well as the being creative on demand lifestyle.
I chucked it in and went back to college and did something else when I was 30, so glad I did. Otherwise I would just be another one of the typical half deaf, drug addled, broken family sound engineers now. Fuck that.
Unless you're Charlie Sheen getting a million $ an episode the media industry is generally not worth it imo. There's much better jobs out there that pay just as much, and you don't have to sell your soul and put up with douchebags on a daily basis.

I'm a different but similar breed. Work in live events, - concerts and theatre in lighting and wardrobe, jobs and work is constantly fluctuating even with an ongoing employment contract, sometimes you spend 80 hours in a week at work, sometimes you spend 10, sometimes you're per diem, sometimes you're hourly, few people end up salaried. I'm looking to go back to school and take my career in a different direction for this reason.
It's a fun industry, and the work environment can be super unique and exciting. But it's a lot of work. The entertainment industry is very no-nonsense about getting results. They want whatever needs to get done completed yesterday and all that matters is that you deliver. You definitely see degrees floating around and even mds, but by far the most important thing is real world experience and networking.

I have a friend who does sound design and scoring for short independent films. Seems tedious and monotonous but he loves it. He's going to start up an audio production company that I'm trying to get on board with.
