Does LSD increase IQ? I "feel" like it does (requires a real study)

I have the impression that LSD allows one to grasp things at a much deeper level. It seems to me that LSD is a key that allows one to make more connections between concepts and ideas and therefore to "grasp the big picture." It seems to me that while on acid, though it is more difficult to clearly formulate coherent thoughts, one's cognitive abilities are nevertheless enhanced such that ones sees so many possibilities that one has difficulty to apprehend a problem because one realises how complex the problem truly is. If one realises how complex a problem truly is, this means that one has at least enough judgment to make such an evaluation. If one has enough judgement to make such an evaluation, this means that one must have at least a little bit of a concept of what the stakes are. This requires at least a little bit intelligence. I'd LOVE, absolutely LOVE to conduct a real scientific study about the effects of BOTH short-term use and regular, long-term use of LSD on the IQ. Who wants to finance me? (LOL)

I believe that psychs allow parts of the brain to communicate with each other, that don't usually do so, this can lead to a fuller understanding of the world around you, which might make you more intelligent.

That's why it needs testing! The ability to envision possibilities seems to me like a sign of intelligence.

Thanks for this link! Read this, a very interesting comment:
"Second, the LSD tests on human subjects at Imperial College in London; a Brazilian study in 2015 using ayahuasca(active ingredient DMT); and again at Imperial College in 2012 using psilocybin mushrooms, the magnetic resonance(fMRI) showed a DECREASE in major brain areas in those having the most profound experiences, exactly opposite of what the materialists/physicalists expected. Dr. Eben Alexander, neurosurgeon, famous for his book "Proof of Heaven" based on his NDE, has looked over the actual research papers and reports on them in his blog today, April 18, 2016. http://www.ebenalexander.com/compelling-studies-on-drugs-and-consciousness/ To quote from his blog: "The reason these studies are so crucial (and confounding to the materialists who believe the physical brain creates conscious experience) is that they powerfully refute the simplistic and false physicalist notion that the brain creates consciousness. The most extraordinary experiences were reported by those subjects who had the greatest inactivation of their brain’s junctional center network activity, as measured through fMRI and MEG. As the brain becomes less active, internal experience actually becomes more active." Another quote: "As is often the case with global media completely steeped in the conventional materialistic paradigm, the press reports about the most recent study falsely trumpeted the opposite of the actual findings. Both the Guardian and CNN focused on some of the fMRI images, but completely missed the astonishing conclusions of the actual study, instead misinterpreting them as showing increased brain activity as opposed to the remarkable decreases in activity the paper actually reports." Read Dr. Alexander's full blog to get the full import of what he's saying."

I don't know, but too much of it can definitely make you a little spaced out.
So there's a fine line somewhere.

if it's used with control and in an environment that's conducive to positive experience then i would say it definitely helps to view things from a new perspective. whether or not that means it increases your IQ, i really don't know. but who cares anyway? it's a very subjective experience that relies on imagination so it's not really meant to be so defined.

Its moronic to get excited over colors on a picture and think you understand how the human brain functions.
Science is just theories. Interesting theroies but just theories

it kinda makes sense, but what if sometimes the connection we make while on psych are useless connection. or even bad connection like in a bad trip
but yea IQ is bullshit,
so is psychedelic at some point,
i feel sad for people that think they have been enlighted by psychedelic, they become such nonsense egocentric hippies

The hippies who blow "enlightenment" up to seem like some kind of "im better than you" attitude is not what enlightenment is defined as, it is simply a better uderstanding on a particular subject.
Psyches IME have let me see things from a new perspective and i feel as if while under the influence of mushrooms i had become more self aware of my own personal life and found better understanding on my own feelings and experiences.
But i do believe that mris can be useful in coming up with theories that is all that science is at the end of the day. I hate when people ignorantly misread/misunderstand studies to suit their own personal agenda
Psychedelics are a personal experience.
No one is better than a other

Funny. I sure feel smart while I'm on acid, but I feel dumb as a box of nails for the two days following.

No. Like I literally feel fried out for the couple of days after I take psychedelics. Like I can't focus. I have trouble managing a lot of information in my short term memory and keeping track of tasks which is important for work. I assume this is from serotonin/dopamine/norepinephrine depletion.
I think my intelligence does actually increase while under the influence of LSD. I'm way past the point of needing LSD to "see how complex things are". Things are fucking complex. I take psychedelics- either mushrooms or LSD or both at the same time- almost every weekend. I can feel my ability to communicate my thoughts expand significantly, along with my desire to vocalize them. I have a feeling my problem-solving skills would also be improved.
But I don't know if taking psychedelics regularly is likely to have an impact on your IQ either way... I am skeptical...
