Why does this thread keep getting bumped by different noobs?
Welcome to the Shroomery Cosmo41 and TJSimon!
You might want to just create a new thread next time, instead of bumping an old one.

I also purchased a plant from a popular auction site. It's been growing incredibly well, but I recently realized it was not bitter. Wondering if I should track down a more legitimate plant.

It should be noted that if in fact the "non-bitter variety" is Chromolaena odorata, aka Siam Weed, Christmas Bush, Devil Weed, Camfhur Grass and Common Floss Flower, then it contains carcinogenic pyrrolizidine alkaloids.
