Make sure you give thanks and show appreciation to those close to you, every day.
You never know.
This guy taught me everything I know about pullin sheets. No holes barred. The art of arguing online.
Know your shit, educate yourself, but never get emotionally invested in an argument. He took me from the naive, white-knight, social justice warrior I was ten + years ago... to the horrid asshole I am today. Just a chip off the ol block, if I may say so myself.
Still hurts that he's gone.
At least I got to thank him for everything before he left. Personally thank him for his years of consistent, conservative logic and rare flashes of humor and constant caustic wit.
You will be forever missed, you great lummox.

Yeah he was a great guy, good poster..always enjoyed his posts. Even if you didnt agree with him you had to admire his passion, and stunning vitriol of certain things lol
I could relate to a lot of what he was saying, he had wisdom for sure. Im very familiar with his type. Baby boomer, old school, conservative, hard working, blue collar, no bullshitting, self made, successful small business owner. I have quite a few in my family that are like that.
There's something about people like that that commands respect. While he was all the things i described above, and could be a little harsh or crass a lot of times, he was definitely someone with a good heart that you could see sneak out in some of his posts.
I feel weird typing all this considering i never met him, knew him personally.. but you know ive been reading his posts since i joined nearly a decade ago and I grew really accustomed to reading his posts and interacting with him.. All i can say is he had a great presence here that is sorely missed.

I hope his consciousness is experiencing the most beautiful, harmonious regions of the metaphysical.
May he be blessed in essence.

I think about ZIG when I am listening to music I know he would have approved of which is often.
He may not have believed in an afterlife but I certainly hope he is living it up with Zappa and Hendrix in the great gig in the sky
-------------------- Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

I think about Zappa every time I listen to steely Dan (a band I never woulda gotten into if he didn't tell me where to start), King Crimson, John Cale, and a handful of other artists.

Could this thread be locked, please?
I shed a tear whenever it pops up. I know I can just hide it, but I believe it's for the best if we share our memories about Zappa in a more lighthearted way, as I believe he would've wanted. My opinion isn't shit, but I have to say something.

I reactivated a fb account today. Last thing I saw was someone mentioning his passing.. he's been on my mind a lot and I am having a difficult time dealing with the loss of such a close friend from behind the screen / phone. I miss him a lot. I'm seeing bumped threads with him and it's like god damn it kevin. But it's what he wanted, and how he wanted, with his kids taken care of & out of college and his family settled in a new home.

Yea, maybe he would've wanted it this way... I don't know, but he was a big part of my life.
I just had another friend pass away this afternoon due to the snow and a drunk Ute driver... I wrote a little something about that, and I think it applies to Kevin even more:
Time will march on, but memories of a beloved one take time to even understand. Take peace in understanding that this world is not a fair playing field; for were it were, we'd all be invincible.

i would never want to be invincible, that reminds me of the episode of twilight zone where the guy goes to hell and he thinks it heaven cause he can have anything he wants and always wins at everything.
its no fun having everything you want with no risk at all.
this planet lost a lot of great people in 2016 and lets face it we will lose many this year too, its a transitional time in history.
maybe one day well learn to envy those who have passed on, maybe some of us already do...sometimes i do, sometimes i dont. but i do think its whats meant to be.

Let's NOT shut this.
Zappaisgod loved to poke his finger in the eye of people whom he felt needed some of his tough love.
I was at the receiving end of so much of it almost all the time he was here.
He was wrong, in my view, but so was I, in his, and we coexisted.
Zappaisgod came here in the wake of Ripper's death to "knock some sense into the younger generation", and in some sense, he did.
Let us never forget our bighearted hardass republican millionaire.
A real man.

Amen.
I agree to leave this open. It does open wounds seeing this pop up, but I think it does him a service, having us reminded of him periodically like this.
