BELFAST (Reuters) - A British vote to leave the European Union intensifies the case for a vote on whether Northern Ireland should leave the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland’s largest Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein said on Friday.
“This outcome tonight dramatically changes the political landscape here in the north of Ireland and we will be intensifying our case for the calling of a border poll” on a united Ireland, Sinn Fein chairman Declan Kearney said in a statement.
“The British government as a direct result have forfeited any mandate to represent the interests of people here in the north of Ireland in circumstances where the north is dragged out of Europe as a result of a vote to leave,” he said. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/sinn-fein-brexit-reaction_us_576cbc1ae4b017b379f586f9

If England and Wales want to go it alone, why should Scotland and Northern Ireland be pulled down with them.

Scotland has been independent since the battle of Sterling.
Theyll agree to trade and terms but will never kneel before a crown or union of jackapes

Scotland's not independent. They voted against independence in the scottish referendum in 2014 and our vote to leave the EU is not likely to change the out come of that, even if they decide to hold another referendum.

Fuck it, it's about time the republic and northern Ireland reunited. Maybe someday that can be the inspiration for Cyprus for some reconciliation there.

I saw this coming. I SAW IT ALL. Maybe Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will all go independent and rejoin the EU as individual states while England gets laughed at.

Wales voted to leave the EU in over whelming majority. Scotland voted to remain a part of the UK 18 months ago. That ain't gonna happen. The entire UK will be leaving the EU. Just gonna have to deal with it ...

Wrong. You've fallen into the old trap of relying on statistics, facts and relevant historical occurrences. I, on the other hand, make political predictions entirely at random. You have been soundly thrashed.

Statistically we don't even know what's going to happen.
And while economists may say that Scotland, NI, etc would not benefit from it - consider that a lot of people don't necessarily vote on what benefits them sometimes people just want to be heard, no matter what the cost.

Yes, I live in England. Are you actually glad we're out the EU?
