It's not contamination, just fuzzy feet. Some people say it is from inadequate fresh air (FAE), but I my experience it is normal for some varieties and not a problem at all.

I just joined this site after various occasions of lurking. I decided to make an account because I need some help. Just picked a few caps while in Hawaii, but I have trouble ID'ing them. Could I post pics of them in this thread so that I get help with identification?

Noob here.  Just had my first flush ever today, roughly 30g dry (14 brf cakes) after dehydrator.  Cakes in SGFC.  I may be very lucky, but I have had no contamination issues, did not use a pressure cooker, do not use a hygrometer, and have had great success.  So unless I'm just lucky, my advice is to keep it simple, and more importantly UNDERSTAND why you are doing the things you do.

Hello all. Mushroom cultivation is something I've wanted to do for years now but haven't had the space or resources to actually delve in until now. I'm really stoked and have been studying like hell considering all the options and learning all the lingo and just learning in general. Currently reading the Mckenna bros mushroom growers guide I know it's quite dated but I bought it for the novelty and because you can't learn too much. Some good tips in there. Also reading Stamets' Mycelium Running. Fantastic so far.

Anyway, I've settled on the PF route for my first operation and hoping to move to bulk grain after I've learned and experienced the basics. Plus I don't have a PC. I'm also planning to be a very active user posting pictures and tracking my grows. I'm hoping to have all the required materials and putting them in motion by September at the latest.

Looking forward to becoming a member of this community.

So I know I need to start participating here with posts; I've been studying my ass off and it shows because I have not yet asked questions.  I've been seeking the answers  out.  Apparently some information is not yet accessible until I have a few more posts under my belt. Gotta say that this place has been invaluable in my higher education.

I am contemplating what I've learned about fungi from active aerated compost teas and organic soil building and how I might apply that to enhancing mycelium growth, fruiting, and potency.  Already,  I've seen others using some of these items succesfully. I plan on doing my first grows quite simply until I can isolate clones to do control testing on.  Everything that is said to be good for fungi in respect to the soil food web has my attention as potential tool to work with.

I rinsed, soaked, and cooked rye;vigorously  shook off steam and waited at least 20 minutes.  Humbly loaded jars to Pc, covered with foil and as I was about to load, significant condensation on the inside of the jars was noticed.  I thought about It, considering that I might lose some moisture to sterilization, but no.... It is true, one is likely to not get the moisture thing right the first time.  But I am determined to not let this would be condensation turned water consolidation become a puddle vector of non-success.  I emptied the jars of the grain, put the jars to dry in a dehydrator and will follow up with putting the grain in there to remove that persistent moisture. At the cost of sleep, I prevail with correct method and the holy spirits shall smile at my grain moisture level.
