A community led by fear
    #23374819 - 06/23/16 06:54 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Well, I joined only about a week ago. I shared my deep experiences with psilocybin, in a spirit of optimism and relief, to find my kin. I expected a friendly, sociable network, where I might meet good folk who live freely and aren't intimidated by the social norms. This is how I am, and part of why I am reasonably free and friendly is because I have been turned on by psilocybin. But, what I have encountered, although friendly online, is a paranoia that is completely unwelcome and unacceptable to me. I try not to live in fear. I have met people who claim to self-perceive as really chilled, but who are in fact, quite hysterical and aggressive in their fear. I say this with regret. Is that what we have learned? Fear?
I have been almost accused of being police. I have offered people help but been declined in case I am a state droid. I am posting this in order to ask people to think. I have been told that, should I exchange phone numbers with someone, they may end up in some 1984 hell because of it. I live in the UK, and can find no evidence of the law being implemented in its totality. As far as I can see, barring a Freedom of Information request, anyone who has been caught with mushrooms has been cautioned and released. I expect there have been cases of further action which have escaped my attention, and I will be putting in a Freedom of Information request to ascertain this. But, the idea that the state would place an agent on this site, to entrap someone, go picking with them and then go 'Aha! Now we have you!' Which agency would sign off on that expense? Not that I have suggested going picking any fuckin way. Please feel free to inform me of any cases you know of, where people have been subjected to imprisonment, fines, or any other serious sanction in the UK, but in detail and with references, not just by shouting. Anyway, in conclusion, if you are ruled by fear, you are an agent of fear. You are working for the state. And I am utterly disappointed. But, hey, who the fuck am I to have an opinion eh. I apologise to all the lovely, indomitable people here, and I name you, Asante, amongst them. I warn the rest: What kind of world do you want to inhabit? Psilocybin has taught me to be brave, not to be a drone.
I will wait for feedback before I leave this site, as I feel I should take responsibility and answer for what I have said. About a week, like
With all my love,
          Mick x

PS: I have my website as part of my ID on here. It contains my phone number. To quote the Pink Fairies: 'Don't creep up behind me, you know where to find me, I'm always around.'

When the world comes to its senses and stops persecuting people for choosing to ingest certain substances under threat of incarceration, I will be free of all cautiousness. Until such a time, I will remain as cautious as needs be to mitigate any risk of losing my freedom.

Also (and I've been saying this for years), if such a time comes when users are not longer prosecuted, my faith in the human race will be restored. Cause right now my view of our species is a very misanthrpoic one.

I'd like to add that I feel you are making some very subjective assumptions in your OP; seeing as you've been here not 10 days and have only made 23 posts.

If there's one thing this place is NOT, it's a community 'led by fear'.

It will only destroy what you are not.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the more paranoid members.

The fact is in the good ol us of a there remains good reason to be paranoid being that ridiculously long prison terms are still being handed out in various courts for the mere possession of relativity small amounts of p.cub.

On a positive note I agree wholeheartedly with most of your post regarding fear and living with or without it. I have chosen to live without fear. Making that choice is a huge step that some are not ready to take.

It is up to those who know that that fear loses its hold on those who are no longer afraid to usher in the uninitiated.

Like jsb said this is not a community lead by fear, but a community lead by tolerance, understanding, and sympathy. At least that is how I perceive it.

I hope you stick around and get to know us a little better, I'm confident that your opinion will change.

Try the other sub-forums. Each of them has a different personality. Some of the forums here I love; others, I rarely--if ever--frequent.

Based on your comments, I'd point you to the "The Psychedelic Experience" forum.

Never give in to the forces of Darkness.

Dare to stab the Devil of Fear, Doubt and Pain in the heart when you encounter him.

The War between Light and Darkness rages within us, and it rages all around us, also on these boards.

You are only new but, can I ask of you the sacrifice to help fight back the Force of Darkness on these here boards? If its not your fight, I understand, we must choose our battles with care, but you are invited to.

I agree with OP. I would also like to add to that, a community "led by arrogance and self-righteousness."

If you leave this forum due to your own fear, then aren't you essentially running away in fear? It's strange to me that you thought you could come here and find some utopian forum that is flawless. In a forum of free thinkers, what makes you think that we should all support your ideals. I certainly support free information, but do not support the legalization of mushrooms. The topic of legalization extends beyond your own interests, and should rather involve other people such as children. Further, mushrooms have not helped everybody. Some people have had bad experiences with them.

One negative aspect seems to trump many positive aspects. Maybe you shouldn't be so hung up in your initial experiences here. Why not discuss your opinions with this community rather than flee to your website in fear?

P.s. the cop thing is kind of like a new user joke. We have some fun around here, ya know?

Yes fear is a weapon used against us, though is only experienced by failure to understand. We fear what we do not understand and choose to destroy or run from what we fear instead of understanding. we are controlled by our ego, and it is widely used against us by those of the elite. An ego persists by the presence of the 7 deadly sins that divide consciousness from the spirit. we experience the sins only when we are dependent of others. To embrace fearlessness we must become self reliant and not be swallowed by the simulation that we live under. we can realize how dependent we are by comparing the way we act in society to how we would act if we became the last person alive on earth. no emotion, no anger, no misery, no distractions. We wouldnt play games, we wouldnt listen to music, we wouldn't over feed ourselves out of boredom, we wouldnt watch television, we wouldnt see animals as less superior. We do all of these things by our dependence of others, and anything that is different from this world and a world of only ourself, is the result of an ego.

I kind of agree, there have been a few I've met who think there some Immortal Shaman or master of philosophy, more self absorbent by there own ego.

Personally I accept I'm a novice in the subject of Psychedelics, but some here are overwhelmed by there own sanctimonious image, but at the same time there's a lot of well knowledgeable people on here.:mushroom2:

Since OP hasn't been on in two weeks, I feel compelled to state that it was I who likely instilled this sense in him. I PM'd him since we're in the same locale, and he sent me his phone # right back. I stated that I was not happy sharing personal details with a non-well established member, and he went on some diatribe about it telling me how it was perfectly legal to go and pick and consume fresh mushrooms (libs) in the UK and I was being paranoid, not being a good Shroomy member, etc.

I advised him to check the law. He came back and stated that yes, actually, it is not legal to pick and consume mushrooms in the UK. lesson learned he said. I thought we worked it all out in PM, but apparently not. I found his conduct suspicious, personally. Especially so that since his baited hook caught no fish, he has not returned.

I mean, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, simply stating that taking precautions in this world is no bad thing, and taking offence and not returning to the community simply because a member here is cautious is not Shroomy at all IMO.

I've shared tons and tons of personal info with members here I have have known for a long time, but would one not be a little callous sharing personal details with a 6 day old member with <20 posts?
