Hey fellow humans.
I think the other day I hit a motherload, about a 3 minute walk from my house I stumbled across an area FULL of subs. completely untouched, I rushed home and grabbed a few bags. I think I picked around 1/8 of the area because i only brought 3 bags with me. I have never in my life seen subs growing like this. some were 15-18cm high and so very very blue. Ended up pulling in just shy of 750 grams and there is still so much of that area to explore.
Next time i go i will take some more photos but for now this will have to do

Congratulations on the finds. You'll want to dry them in a dehydrator or under a fan asap to avoid rotting and bugs eating them before they dry. Best not to use plastic bags for mushrooms; paper bags or cotton/calico bags work well for hunting. They will keep in the fridge for a few days how you have them now but will most likely start to rot unless you put them in paper bags. Dry them until they are cracker dry with not a bit of moisture left in them. that way they will last in bags like that(dry) for a year or two.

Except I think mushrooms cracker dry stored away from light and oxygen could probably last decades or more.

Sounds like an awesome haul, man. But if those mushrooms in the ziplock bags are wet, you want to get them out of there ASAP and into a food dehydrator or some other drying rig. If you leave them in there, they'll rot very, very quickly.

Cheers guys!
Yeah i dried them out, the first bag must've had some mould through it from the mushrooms because a lot of them went bad. I guess we will just call it breakage haha.
Was shocked at how much weight they lost, i mean all things considered i lost nearly a whole bag due to them going bad, but out of around 500g of wet i only ended up with about 34g of dry. Which is still heaps, but still haha

6 to 7% of wet is normal for cracker dry shrooms.

It's a funny story how i came across these, i was walking my dog past this house and noticed there was a few subs growing on his garden bed, i didn't wanna loiter out the front of his house and didn't wanna look sus, so i thought i'd walk to the end of of the street turn around and grab them nice and swift like on the way back. But when i got to the end of the street there was a little wetland i hadn't thought to look in, and BAM hundreds and hundreds of subs everywhere. So i rushed home and grabbed some bags and came back to get them. (i also grabbed the ones from the garden bed on the way home haha)

There was some golfcourse in the UK a few years back that reported about 100,000 of them in a single area! What were the growing conditions?

Far out! That would have been a good golfing day!!
well theres a man made wetland/lake sort of thing with some reeds and stuff through it, but it's surrounded by bark that is always wet from the lake. So i guess you could just say wet bark near a lake hahaha. hopefully it stays wet through the year and i can pick all year round haha
