27 Gals. Do I have too much perlite in it? I would appreciate any critiques, flames, or insults to my(deceased)Mother.
Thanks

Remove the Humidity/temperature gauges and ur in business. I don't think you have too much vermiculite either.

Thanks. Are the gauges a potential contam source? Why remove them?

Because usually they do nothing but make you think the chamber is not working correctly... But your holes are so big, it might be a good idea to leave it in that one... Just long enough to make sure you are getting somewhere in the ball park with your humidity...

Because they are useless. Humidity at the service is what matters and can't be measured with those. Room temp is fine so no need for the other contraption. As long as your PERLITE is saturated you will be fine. Especially with the amount you have in there. Just keep an eye out and if, for some reason, the cakes look dry, mist them until they have water droplets on them. Most of all... Don't over think it. SGFC works like it's supposed to and you should have to do very little to help it along. Good Luck. Maybe I'm wrong about the surface humidity in a sgfc. I only do monos and I know that's what matters there. Either way it will only cause you confusion. Trash it.

They take up space and don't give you any useful information. The climate you are interested in maintaining is only milimeters surrounding the cakes. Your chamber is the engine that regulates that climate. Keep your cakes looking moist at all times with misting and a quick fan after misting. The FC will do the work of controlling climate with, or without you.

Not too much vermiculite but WAY too much perlite.. Oh wait it's a mini SGFC.... eehhhhhhhh that could be harder to get working than a regular sized one.

Why do people always cut corners with the SGFC? Your cakes won't perform as well.
It's not too late.. 66 qt sterlite. 2" grid pattern of 1/4" holes on all 6 sides. 4 inches of perlite. Lifted 6" from the floor.

I did`nt cut any corners. I followed a tek that stated almost any size of tub is viable for a PF-cake fruiting chamber. Since I only did 5 cakes, a 66qt would be a waste. I don`t plan to continue with cakes- I am moving to monotub after this grow, if its a success.

I'm assuming his "cutting corners" comment was aimed more towards those 5/8" holes, and not so much the tub size... Maybe

Now I`m worried. Is that too much perl- even for a mini sgfc? My holes are 3/8"- I didn`t have a 1/4" bit. But- RR is quoted as saying he prefers 3/8", but because people tend towards laziness(3/8" chambers need misting more frequently)he recommends 1/4" holes. My cakes still have a few hours in dunk mode, and I`ll switch chambers if I have to.
Update: I went to Walmart and bought a 66g Sterilite. If I must forego my mini-sgfc at least I have all the tek-complying equipment now.

lol so much perlite. ive never done a SGFC so i dont know if its TOO much per-se, but its definitely the most ive ever seen in one :p
i also saw your comment above about moving to mono's next/later. i recommend this route >:) and 66qt tubs are perfect for this unless you plan to go mini. which is fine too. thats how i started.

Theres no such thing as too much perlite, unless it actually cramps the cake inside your FC too tight.

So long as it's coarse perlite anyway, the fine shit you can have too much of, I'd say.

Thanks for the input! I was tending to my other cultivation project and was late getting back. Thusly, I was unable to get the holes drilled on my 66qt sgfc, so the 5 will have to make it through the night in the mini. Their new home will be ready first thing(which for me is about 9am)in the morning.
