Is this enough wood for my master slant?

Im making my first master slant and im wondering if this is enough wood. I cut a little off the top and a little off the side, and it is an inch and a half away from the rim. I'm probably over complicating things but a second opinion is always nice.

Planning on keeping that slant longer than a year or two before using it? Otherwise I would skip the wood altogether

Yep, and I figured the wood wouldn't hurt anything. Did I use enough?

Yeah, that is more than enough. I use these really thin sticks because I can't find those tongue depressors locally. Mine are coloured sticks about twice the length of a toothpick and a few mm's in diameter. But TC is right, the amount of wood doesn't matter too much, as long as you have something in there, you will be all set.
The wood is just there so if the agar dries over time and the mycelium on it dies, the hydrated wood should still have live mycelium inside. Just a tiny mycelium laden wood fragment would be enough to get it going again.
Although they say that slants with wood will last a couple of years, you should still make another slant every year at least. It is said that tropical species can die in fridges if they are not set at a specific temperature so the longer you leave it, the chances of losing it will be higher.

Wood so contains some sugars that may help with revival like trehalose, if that sugar actually helps the way it's supposed to I Haven't seen proof of

I had a slant where the culture died on the agar after 9 months. The wood was the only way I was able to bring it back. It does work.

When making slants you should stab the inoculation loop at least 3/4" 1.75cm into the agar so that the surface doesn't die and dry and you get fucked even without using wood

Maybe.... go search for it?

Slant tek.
A slant is a test tube filled with agar that is slanted while it is still hot so it sets at an angle. The result is less surface area exposed to air and a very deep nutritious layer. This will make the agar dry slower so it will last longer. It is the best way to store cultures for long periods of time in a fridge. Petri dishes will accumulate much more condensation (even pooling most of the time), and they will dry faster so you risk losing cultures more easily.
Speaking of slants, has anyone ever had trouble with cultures not growing after transferring? My hoogshagenii cultures are being very stubborn, one of which didn't grow after 3 transfers. I ended up transferring it to a pp5 container and it's already recovering after 1 day. I had to transfer the others twice before they started to grow. It's rather puzzling.
