Spores in the mail dangerous?

I bought a couple spore syringes from sporestore & it turns out it's too hot where I live & don't have the means to grow them out here in this weather. So I wanted to send my growkit & spores to California for a relative to grow them for me before I visit them again in a few months.
My question: how likely will it be discovered by the mail service I'm sending a growkit plus filled syringes of a substanced banned in California?

I don't think spores are a controlled substance. But id look it up. I bought my spores from a local head shop. They have a list of strains on a white board and the guy just reaches into a giant fridge behind him and gets em for you.

I'm not a Shroomery expert by any means, but I do not believe this type of question belongs in this particular forum/website.
Best of luck to you!
(PS.... I don't advise you shipping spores to California if it is not legal)

Unlikely. I lived in San Jose for a long time and got spores from a friend I used to work with 4-5 times a year. I'd ditch the grow kit though as it is heavy and bulky but spores are just another package that fits in a mail box. I'm not telling you to to it I'm just answering your question.

Yeah what guy above said. Spores typically come in regular mail, in a small box. Also discreet shipping. PM me if you want the vendor I use. Very discreet. I also worry about these things. No issues yet.
Also yes ditch the grow kit. That will come in a very large box. Just look up PF tek and do it yourself. Some vermiculite, brown rice flower, mason jars and foil, and a small clear container. There's your grow kit for a fraction of the price with much better results.

In California spores aren't legal weirdly. I wanna know if anyone has experience mailing these & what are the chances cops will bust it open & find them?

People certainly do mail spores to CA with out repercussion so you never know; but, they certainly reserve the right to x-ray your mail and check it out if it is suspicious. This is from the USPS FAQ security section:
Is Mail X-Rayed?
Some of the mail that is sent through the United States Postal Service will pass through an X-Ray machine. There are no specific guidelines as to what may or may not be x-rayed, though mail sent to or through larger cities is likely to pass through an X-Ray machine.
If you have additional questions about X-Raying of items, contact your local Post Office.
Note: Marking a mailpiece "Do Not X-Ray" will not forgo the X-Raying of a mailpiece, and may result in the item being considered suspicious.
CA has active laws prohibiting the trade of spores and their is certainly a chance for the item to be discovered. Be careful man and goodluck!

3. Spores are sold for microscopy use only so mycologists can ID mushrooms. If you're going to misuse them to grow a controlled substance, keep it to yourself. Any post which mentions 'such and such' vendor, will be deleted and you'll receive an official warning. Do not plug non sponsors.

You don't want to get caught and receive a letter explaining the rules and regulations of that states horticultural laws.... been there, done that lol....
They're illegal and you may get a fine if you get caught.

If you get caught its user error. People buy live mycelium kits from Europe all the time, and thousands of pounds of weed goes through California mail daily.
Even if they saw spores chances are they wouldn't even know its an illegal item
