What is this in my spring onions!
    #23365620 - 06/21/16 01:59 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

This has an oily top in the morning. They spring up each night. The oily stuff is getting all over my veg, is it harmful?

Some sort of Inky Cap. could be a Coprinellus, or perhaps Coprinopsis species

It's some type of mushroom that commonly gets called an ink cap. These mushrooms turn to a Black liquid to release their spores. They wont harm your plant or you and more than likely came in with the soil when you bought it or got in there somehow by other means. If you get pictures of them before they 'melt' we could probably give you a better id.

Coprinopsis is likely. Be quick to catch them before they liquefy.

Hi Guys,

All i am worried about is whether I can still eat my spring onions (when they are bigger!) if they get the inky stuff on them? Is it poisonous?

Thanks
