I made 8 cases of organically grow and natural fermented red grapes of Russian River California excellent fine wine, called " 2012 Blue Lotus Organic Red Wine". I added 5 blue lotus stamens to each 750 ml. bottle of wine. As the stamens dissolved their bitterness in alcohol and make the wine fully smooth and enhanced the mild alcohol feel, not hashness of the wine typically of deep hardly tannin wine...this is very smooth. The science of nitrogen displacing oxygen through a anerobic process happens here delivering smooth flavor of a aged and mellow smooth wine. It was aged with some oak chips too.
I was not allowed to enter the wine in a local home winemakers contest, but was accepted at "The Bottle Shock Open Competition 2016" Lodi California, a completion opened to 50 states USA. I am in the only experimental class.
I am dispelling the myth of blue lotus to show the TRUE health benefits. I have seen all other post of blue lotus on you tube and here and they are nothing like I have experienced. It sounds like overdosed experiences or administered like a opiate or just plane trying to get high by ingesting huge amounts of flower pedals and stems, not stamens in Wine, like it was made for. I can assure you, I have given bottles to my girlfriends mother 89 and aunt 87 year old women from Los Gatos, they liked it, it made them feel good and drank over 5 bottles, NO adverse side affects. NOT exactly a party going group.
Things I have found, from the effects:
1) Immediate appetite trigger. (good for senior citizens, or any one after surgery) 2) Flavor of food enhancer 3)Calms brains frontal lobe (good for schizophrenic's disease of epileptic seizures of the frontal lobe, also back injury or depression if chronic) 4) Calms and sedates body aches and pains 5) When properly cured in wine over 3 years, bitterness and wanting to throw up is reduced. (recommend to drink as a medicine, not to get high, like drinking cough medicine, wine makes the medicine go down smoothly)
All other assertation's of a sexual stimulant or psychedelic drug effects are false, according to my experiences, my older sister (librarian), and girl friend (Insurance underwriter) and some of her family members.
It is my intent to continue making wild homemade wine that cures, and eliminate the myth that blue lotus is or was put in wine to alter your reality. You tube channel "Bluelotusorganicredwine"
Blue Lotus Organic Red Wine entered into "The Bottleshock Open Competition", for home wine makers. Judging to take place Lodi California July 18, 2016 (Introducing this wine to the world of wine judges, ex, Robert Mondovi Wine Maker 30 years and other high profile wine makers and Judges....They accepted the wine knowing "Blue Lotus Stamens" in it, and is in the competition as a category 840/ other wine.) So I will post you the results, when I find out. I am pretty excited about this, first time making a wine and in a competition with a Highly controversial and misunderstood ancient wine making flower.

2012 Blue Lotus Wine Just WON honorable Mention at 2016 Bottle Shock Open Competition, Lodi California.
Natural Fermentation method and using blue lotus as a preservative also got it a "Very Fine Wine" comment from "Wine Weridos" review on Twitter.
This is a Home made wine, not for sale. Bottled 2013 and opened 2016. Most stamens were dissolved into the alcohol. The silky smoothness, color enhancer, freshness, bringing out herbal notes and vegtables and no bitterness was a noticeable quality it gave to this wine.
I found it to give me a sedative rest and alert senses to food and audio, ie Music, mine particularly.
Example of Blue Lotus done properly isn't a hallucinogenic drug.
