Horse manure/coir substrate for tray growing

After watching Willy Myco's tray video (below), I've decided to give it a go. A quick question that I've been searching for an answer to is:
With just a horse manure substrate, will it be to dry to promote proper growth? I've been considering adding a 50/50 hydrated and pasteurized coir mixture (properly drained). Do you believe this with be adequate?
Also, am I being foolish not investigating further the use of a mono tub? I already have a SGFC that is performing well with BRF cakes and everything I've read is that a SGFC is an ideal growing environment. Any additional thoughts on this?

its time for you to unfollow willy myco, dude uses syringe filters on grain jars and has dirty spawn, and spends 25 minutes explaining how to mix grains and sub in a tray FFS!
manure, straw, coir, verm, all good, even better mixed.
and yeah if you got grain spawn I'd rather do a mono tub, if you dont have enough jars do a g2g. trays in sgfc requires much more attention than a dialed in mono. or any kinda mono.

Thanks for the input. As a noob, I appreciated his longer form videos but I also appreciate you criticism on his teks.
I'm going to look at putting together a small mono tub. I currently have 1 quart jar of rye berries colonizing. Hoping it all works out.

Pasty likes mini monos
When the dude (myco willy) does so much weird stuff chances are those 25 mins were chok full of really bad info. That's why I generally say stay away from youtube videos, even tho I know some members here have some good ones chances are you'll find the hundreds of bad ones first and not know the difference.

If you want to do trays, nothing stopping you from filling a mono with them. Just some trays I have going right now, bulk is store poo and straw with a peat casing.

Admittedly, this is my first time using store poo and I wasn't aware that field capacity is totally different with a poo&straw mix. All the trays are horribly bacterial so the pinset is crap, I will have to trash a couple more trays probably.
I love trays because they are so damn easy to harvest. They are great for newer growers because you won't be putting all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.

lol... the info in that video has so much wrong with it I wouldn't know where to begin.
Check out the Mushroom Videos that are linked in my signature for some current, correct TEKS....

That looks awesome man, thanks for sharing. Did you follow a particular tek or use one of your own?

His signature is a bunch of other people's teks. But I'm sure like everyone else in this hobby he has his own way of doing things.

When I first started out I followed the PF-TEK to a "T" and had great results my first try.
Soon after that I learned to use agar.
Now I do bulk for the most part... Trays, monos, outdoor patches.
IMO agar work is hands down the next best thing to learn.
I did however start fruiting some PF jars that I experimented with a little.
Coir, verm, BRF, gypsum...
The cakes are starting to pin and I plan on posting an update of that grow soon.
