SHROOMY MUSIC

Got an idea. Why don't the musicians in here make a song composed of everyone's input. Say someone posts a bass line, and then someone else adds a drum beat, and then a guitar riff/lead and so on, etc...don't know how or if this will work, but it is an idea for a thread. I personally will probably not add to it because I am not that comp savvy. It would/will be interesting to see if this idea pans out.

Yea we could post up stems and then one of us could compile it together.
Or we could just compile a Shroomery album. Every artist submits a song and we could get somebody to do some cool artwork for the cover or something.
We should do it every month. I think that would be cool. Because i've been listening to some users music on soundcloud and a lot of it is dope. We could put together something really cool
I'm down for whatever though.

Something along the lines of "Dollar in the Woods" by DJ KEEMSTAR would for sure be cool

Yeah, whole songs would be good too. I was thinking of a collaboration of many people on just one song until it is deemed complete, and then on to the next one. People could vote on the completion of it before it is posted as complete. Layering a single guitar riff/bass line/keyboard line etc...with many different people adding to the song. Sort of like in a recording studio, but from all over the planet!

Let's agree on a genre or tempo. I'll start with the drums and we can build on it.
Or if we make some rhythm or ambience first.
I start with a simple drum pattern to get the tempo instead of using a metronome.

Any genre or tempo. I suggest slow to medium tempo for novice to intermediate people, and no country music please! The thing is this could make a new genre of music!

Id be down to contribute on whatever if we work some kind of plan out, or get something rolling and start to add stuff so long as everything is stemmed out from the ground up. Would be an interesting project.

Yea I have never done it like that before.
When I was on the monome forum, people would just post up .zip's of their own stems and people would remix them and post their versions up.

We could play around with effects along the way, but keep the stems relatively clean until the final edit/pre master. Like add effects only in the sample mp3 to show the direction to go in, but when sharing stems keep em clean for most editing.

I believe you play drums, correct tyrannical? Or do you play other stuff as well?
Regardless, live drums would be an awesome touch to anything.

I do play drums, I do not know how to post a piece though. I could record it on my comp mic but the sound would be lousy.

that really does just seem like a bit too much effort in a place like this

I had the same idea awhile back, if you get something started I would love to try and contribute something.
I mainly play guitar and keys but I could record a decent amount of stuff and I have a nice FX pedal collection.
So if someone has something they want to add some crazy fancy delay or something too I could help possibly.
Here is the delay I have:
 tc electronic triple delay
It has a lot of different sounding modes and can run 3 separate or linked delays at the same time. So you could get some insane rhythms with it.
-------------------- Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free
