Dosage Question

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask, but I have a question and quite a bit of research on my part has not answered it.
Here are some things that I believe are true (mostly) based on my research...
Most people do 1 - 4 grams (dried) of C. Cubensis. The weight of the mushroom intake decides the level or intensity of the trip.
However, I've also read that most of the psilocibin/psilocin that a mushroom will contain is produced very early in the fruit's life. Thus, a small abort would contain approximately the same amount of psychoactive ingredient as a large cap and stem.
This would suggest to me that dosages should be based on the number of mushrooms and NOT the weight. Is there any scientific data on this? If this is true, then I would think that us people with weaker stomachs would prefer to eat smaller mushrooms (maybe even aborts) to get more psilocibin/psilocin per gram of intake. It even suggests that you should harvest your mushrooms long before the veil breaks.
Is this BS or what?

The only thing you can do is:
Test your specific batch, adjust dosage to your liking. Repeat with the next batch.
... keeping it simple and realistic, that is.

Never base dose off number of shrooms. Aborts probably are stronger to some extent but I would still take the same dosage if I were you.

Why would you not measure based on number of fruits? I agree with OP that this problem keeps staring me in the face. Trying to sell mushrooms at a fair price is a little disconcerting. For example, if I let my fruits grow long past the veil break, they will weigh more and thus I can charge more money. Obviously I don't want to do that; it's not fair and it has never ever been about the money. I guess I'm just wondering if all the dosage calculators are based on correctly timed harvests or late/weak harvests or if there's no standard at all and it is, in fact, general BS.

Because there are big fruits, little fruits, potent fruits, weak fruits, dry fruits, moist fruits, whole fruits, broken fruits, fresh fruits, old fruits, rotten fruits, tasty and awful fruits.
Thats why.

I usually base my mushroom dose on number of mushrooms. I havent weighed shrooms to dose myself in forever, what i normally do is weigh out a few to a certain weight, usually 7 g. Then if i eat all of those i eat straight from my big bag until i don't want to eat more. I have noticed that if i eat say, 10 very small mushrooms with a round cap ( the cap hasn't opened veil break?) i will trip much harder than if i eat 2 very large mushrooms, even though the weight is about the same. Lately ive been eating small mushrooms and giving away the bigger ones.

Because 2 giant mushrooms are going to give an effect different from 2 very small ones. And they can be VERY small.

I'd personally always weigh my shrooms because you never know how much they weigh by looking at them
