Getting Back into a Grow
    #23364393 - 06/20/16 05:02 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Hello! It's been a long time since I've last produced fruits and it was in hard from laziness. Anyways I'm working with a few varieties to increase the spore library, make good on some bad trades and start some giveaways; South American, Pink Buffalo, PE6, AA+, Golden Teacher and Malaysian.

It's been about five days since first innoculatuon and starting to see growth in quite a few Malay jars, nothing yet in the AA+ so I'll give them another three days before scrapping and trying again.

Thanks guys appreciate the replies I hope to see both you and I in the marketplace in the upcoming months! Yeah the mycelium is scattered through some jars, not strong enough to pick up but was too excited to not make a post. The first signs always pump me up, it's like wildfire after

Yeah its really exciting!  Once you get a good rotation going you won't even notice anymore until you're ready to spawn.
Keep us updated!  Too many people never finish their grow report!

Hey guys happy friday! Little update and a question. All of the jars are around here. Is this ready for a shake, when do you guys normally shake?

id personally wait till the clumps form to each other a little more. i go with around 30-35% colonization before shaking. some say 25-30% is ideal. you could probably shake now and be okay, but my somewhat inexperienced advice is to give it a day or 3 and then shake (:

I'll do that after dinner haha. Just finished up innoculating the Golden Teacher and South American spores. Since my AA+ crapped out I'll be using those jars to expand my Malaysian spawn.

Do any of you have any spawn bag experience? I want to use those as my final grain transfer before colonizing to fruit, I've read posts about people just twisting the top or using duct tape for the seal after pressure cooking. Looking to cut out any expensive steps.

I've been looking into metal seals for DIY spawn bags, using turkey bags, quite a bit of polyfill and these as a pc safe seal

Hey guys little update, some questions and concerns.

Four jars at 100%, gonna break one down and transfer grains today until my bags come in but saw some crazy shit in one of my jars. I've tried doing some research and I think it's coral mycelium. Sorry about the poor picture quality but you can't faintly see the clusters.

Finally there is some yellowing in the hat with the coral mycelium, it's compacted as all hell but it's got me worried.

Big update, big problem. My fucking friend shook the fuck out of my jars and they bruised horribly, what happened? Are these going to be viable for transfer?

None of those jars are healthy enough for a g2g... You are supposed to shake em before you spawn them so that is fine... I have my doubts that any of those are going to recover though... I would suggest spawning them to a tub and crossing your fingers.

Had a few jars after transferring so I said fuck it, let's get some mushies going! Had some pretty heavy duty cloning trays so I'm using one for a fruiting chamber, using some polyfill for humidity

Day seven colonizing the tub, around 50% was wondering if anyone goes past the ten days colonisation time or just introduce it?

I take all of my masters to bags, up to 8 lb.'s. Bags are super easy, the most important thing though is you will need to use a tyvec sleeve. You place the sleeve down in the bag with top of the sleeve sticking out of the top, make sure the sleeve is covering the space between the gussets, lay the top over and then fold it over once, and back again like an accordian. Load the bags in your PC, an AA 921 can do up to 20 lb.'s of grain and an AA 941 can do up to 40 lb.s of grain. Also lay something heavy like a plate over the top so the PC vent won't get clogged. PC time should be 2 hours or over depending on how full it is loaded.
If you dont have a flowhood I would let the bags cool in a tote and try not to disturb the seal that bag creates until you go go to spawn. With out a sealer, zip ties are the best, sealers on are a pain in the ass anyways. What size bags are you using?

Found these on ebay, seller was from out-grow so I got them pretty cheap while skimping on shipping. I measured 10 cups of rye grain in a bag while leaving about an inch under the filter patch. The tyvek will hold the deal till I can zip them up?

Thanks man, love Aesop, not yet I'll look them up!

Impossibele Kid is Aesops new album, it's dope.

I use Out grows bags, they are great. It depends on what size the bags are for how much you can put in there, I use the large.
The bags will seal themselves up naturally around the tyvec in the PC, just try not to mess with them too much while unloading.
When you go to inoculate them, have a zip tie looped already to quickly tie up when ready.

Oh shit they have a new album?!

Okay awesome, I was worried about the elastic bands would cause a problem around the ends but it's good to know it will create its own seal.

What were you going to do with elastic bands? All you need to PC is the tyvec sleeve and to fold accordingly. I will find you a thread or tek about it.

Thanks for the link, i'm just waiting to get a little coin to buy some tyvek sleeves and put my studies into practice! Little update: turned two jars into twenty, love this hobby, after you get past the fear of sterility the rest just takes care of itself. Some tiny signs of primordia and another week until these top five jars consolidate and I actually dial and set up a monotub!

Little update, more pins, getting ready to set up a couple 30gal monotubs, to maximize potential yield how many quarts of spawn should I use?

Had to start over a few days ago, using two quarts spawn and four quarts CVG. On day four and they look like this.

It's amazing, the mycelium looks like grass, should I wait the full 10 days before introducing into fruiting?
