Please Identify SWFL Wild Mushroom
    #23363984 - 06/20/16 02:35 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Let me start by saying I am quite the avid fungi hunter, since I am down south, the main actives around here are Cube's and a myriad of different Pan's so my identification skills as a whole are fine.

The habitat I found this growing in was a particular area close to me under an oak hammock and near dung of all kinds. I wasn't really hunting for anything in particular til I saw these small Psilocybe looking mushies. During hunting season this area has all of the perfect conditions for our little fungi friends to grow, all different species from edibles to actives.

It's a very humid area with little light and plenty of moisture rich nutrients for mycelium to thrive on.

The appearance of this was rather small, about the size of P. Semilancaeta. It had the very typical copper color of a mushroom in the Psilocybe or Panaeolus  family. The cap was about 3/4"/17-18mm in diameter, it had a semi long and slender stem and darker gills, which were not attached to the stem. It also had a slightly umbonate cap with somewhat of a nipple on top, it's light copper on the nip and white around it. It also had slight striations where you could see the gills through the cap when the sun was shining on it

I immediately harvested it with no intention of consuming it but simply the intention of taking a print from it just to see what I might find and low and behold, it has darkish purple to black spores.

I took some pictures that I will attach of it alongside it's spore print, I would like to know what the community thinks, so any possible identification info would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to take more prints of these little beauties

Possibly a Coprinellus sp. Not a Psilocybe, and not really a look alike either.
