Putting PF cakes directly on perlite?
    #23363523 - 06/20/16 11:02 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Hey all,
I currently have 6 1/4 pint PF cakes in a SGFC built to a T. My only concern is the cakes are bruised from dehydration, I mist and fan 3-5 times a day and dunked and rolled my cakes before fruiting. Could I directly put my cakes on the perlite for a given time to rehydrate them?
I cant dunk them now due to the fact that they have pins and I dont want them to abort....
Thanks in advance and please dont tell me I should have bought 1/2 pint jars, I will be getting some for future projects but at the time 1/4 pints were all I had.

Happy shroomin

no. put on foil. never put them on the perlite. it works differently than verm.

it will probably be ok, but if you want you can get some tiny saucers and put a small amount of water in it, and sit the cake on that.

Do not put your cakes directly on the perlite, that will only make the situation worse. Set them on foil or a jar lid.

You can inject the cake with about 5cc of sterile water if you are really worried about hydration or the idea above will work. Otherwise just wait until after the flush and dunk them again.

Keep in mind that if conditions are wrong, they won't pin so since it is pinning, that is a good sign.

You technically can put them on perlite but the mycelium likes to colonize into it.....

As everyone else suggested, placing them on foil is ideal...everyone has foil.
