Awful pictures, more light better focus If I had to guess I'd say they look a bit like pc to me, but again, could be anything with those awful pictures

Its a pretty trich but san pedro is a hard species to define.

90% looks like it. make a little cut and come back after, if it bleeds black it is.

i dont know how to say it better but if u cut it and its active it will look something like its bleeding black stuff after a couple hours. just small pin stab not something bad

I have no idea what you are talking about. I've cut my cacti for many reasons and they have never bled black goop
Edit: a quick google search shows that black sap leakage is caused by a serious bacterial infection and the black color comes from the bacteria

From the overall appearance of the cactus it appears to be a Trichocereus sp., would need close up pictures of spines to tell you more. The top seems to be etiolatiing, or stretching, from lack of light. If you want to grow it into a nice plant you should give it more light as soon as possible.

it's supposed to be a gift for my boyfriend and i wouldn't mind it being a non-active cactus i just thought he might like it. so it's not 'mine' yet the pictures were sent to me. when i buy it, is a windowsill enough light or should i put it in a vivarium ?
