Possible Blue Meanie?
    #23362984 - 06/20/16 06:55 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Howdy folks! I found a few mushrooms that a few people told me it belonged to the psilocybin family. First pick! doing plenty of research but not finding anything EXACTLY the same. Needing a few second opinions. Found June after rain.

Habitat:
Found growing WITHOUT manure. Found in sandy/silt soil in Australia, Victoria, Otways. Found in patchy grass areas in a Manna Gum forestry reserve that included ferns, grasses, heaps of Koalas, wallabys.

Gills:
adnexed or emarginate (not sure, new to this), chocolate brown, gills present

Stem:
Thin, about 50 - 75mm long, white/grey in colour, turned blueish colour when bruised, yellow/orange coloured inside stem, solid

Cap:
mature specimens 50-60mm, golden brown centre top to lighter golden colour further out from centre, hymenium: gills, shape: campanulate, blue bruising on outer side which will turn blackish with time.

Spore print colour:
Available tomorrow

Bruising:
Blueish

Other information:
Scent is similar to common edible mushrooms used in cooking.

It is clearly active. My kneejerk reaction would have been Psilocybe subaeruginosa but it is possible some better shots would help pin it down.

I have these two photos, I am unprepared with photographic help. Next time I will take photos freshly picked and where it was grown. Please keep in mind this mushroom is about 2-3 days old. Spore print didn't work, I suspect too much handling has lead to this.

They have released all their spores they just look like old and dry subs sometimes they get like this, keep us posted though some natural shots in the habitat would be nice aswel while they're in the ground, they should flush again if the mycs there

I give you the choice of 2 pills.

With each containing one of the following:
Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk?
Didn't think so.

This is why Positive Identification prior to consumption is important.
