Shroomery and Funerals
    #23362598 - 06/20/16 01:24 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

I've been here 6 years. The site is what, over or just at 18* years old? These boards are fairly young in terms of human life.

That means, it's entirely possible a lot of the user base here including staff could be here for 50+ years and onwards.

I will also include the lives that have already passed on here, well known users like Lord Senate, Zippoz etc. and onward.

I know this is potentially a touchy subject... I apologize if this digs up any unwanted feelings; it's not my intention.

My question to the community members here is simple... Have you ever, or do you ever see yourself attending the funeral of another member, perhaps a member you never even got to see in real life?

A lot of us talk to each other outside the boards and are close in sub-groups that we've formed over the years of talking to each other.

So, would you if you could, go to pay your respects to the dead of one of your fellow shroomerites?

There's quite a number of people that I would fly out to attend a service for.

And the 3 users here I was close to IRL that have passed, One didn't have a funeral, the other was only family, and the most recent was out of state and I am on probation and had to work that week and couldn't get it off.

I would've I attended all three of them if I could have.

I haven't been to a funeral since a friend and his daughter died on their way to my house on my birthday,  it was so fucking sad.

I've been to 2 funerals, and 2 weddings in my entire 30 years on this planet, yet so many people I know have died and been married.

And ya, if you check ythan's posts, he started posting in April of 1998.

We never created an "about the admins" page because it seems kind of self-indulgent, but I do keep getting a lot of the same questions over and over. I figured I might be able to cut down on this by answering some of the more common ones in my bio. So here you go!

I started the Shroomery in August of 1997. I was 15 at the time and yes, that arguably makes me a hypocrite for enforcing our 18+ age requirement.

D4A2N0K, joshisstoned, and zippoz.

I was pretty close to all three of them.  D4A2N0K was the 3rd person I met from this website.  I lived right down the road from him pretty much.  We used to kick it almost everyday, as did josh and I.  Dank passed away from heroin when he turned 21 back in 2010.  Josh had a seizure driving right before christmas of 2015.  And zippoz pulled the trigger :frown:

I am so weird about death. I eat acid pretty much immediately.  It makes me remember to live.

People were all pitching in and still buying Dank all good tickets and putting them on his grave, it was always on or right around his birthday ( july 11th ), but they aren't even doing that fest anymore.

I've never met a bad person from this site.

I met muppet one time, I wouldn't call him a friend, he was a troubled soul for sure, he also lived really close to me.  He took his life inside the back office of a walgreens with a pistol.

Wouldn't you be happier knowing the boards are 19?  Old enough to get put up on porn hub having sweet sex with it's step sister The Hive?

The shroomery as a whole is definitely more male then female or else i completely agree. Idgaf what a hypothetical male 3 y/o personification of the shroomery does.

Man when we were all at a gathering once, effed had given muppet a ride.  Muppet was pretty quiet and too himself all weekend, he had to be back early sunday morning and we were all staying til monday for the most part.  He lived really close to where effed and I live.

As soon as he got in effeds truck and they left everyone was like "I can't believe no one brought up him fucking that corpse!!!"

I had no idea it happened, so I immediately called effed....

"Hey man, can you put it on speaker phone."

As I put the phone on speaker phone.

"HEY MUPPET!!!!! I heard you fucked a corpse homie tell as the details!!!!!"

He sat there in effeds truck and told us all about how he fucked this corpse and how it wasn't much different than a normal lay, aside from the blank look on her face, and how cold and sloppy and unmoving it was.  He talked about it for a good 5 minutes, and I was like "Awesome man thanks!!!"

Effed got back to the campsite..."Really???? That had to be the most fucking awkward car ride after you got off the phone.....I had no fucking clue he did that.....fuck you asshole!!!!!"

Dr Dankhead (former member not many except me cared for),almost ODed for good on heroin semi recently. He was tragically misunderstood imo. He started doing heroin and I told him if he continued he would overdose, especially at the rate he was going and the purity he'd seek out. I honestly hope he's alive but i have no clue other then he had a near fatal overdose, was put into rehab and was struggling with relapse. I tell myself he's probably got a job by now and done with addiction. I'll keep telling myself that

Funerals in general have plagued my life(I know it sucks for them too) but those who survive are the ones impacted. From a ages 16-19 I went to something like more the 2-3 funerals a year. 3 total being family that had killed themselves by the bullet or the noose  I hate funerals so much. I would probably still be in grieving from the last death, if we had to lower my nanas casket . My mom just made the decision to have a nice picture and a service. No coffin present,no lengthy burying process. As morbid as it seems it was a lot easier that way.

Re: Shroomery and Funerals [Re: PreparationH]

One of my first funerals I ever attended was that of my psychiatrist I had been seeing since i was a child. I was in my late teens when she went, I believe. Since she passed, I hopped around from psychiatrist to psychiatrist and couldn't settle. many never cared to sit with me and talk and analyze as long or as much as she did. After wards, I received an Asperger's diagnosis from the last psychiatrist I saw.

Then my buddy from highschool died from Neurofibromatosis, he was only 24. I still remember visiting him in the ORMC when he went in for surgery to get a golf-ball sized tumor from his brain, he had been complaining of massive headaches and a decreased ability to see out of his left eye. I had been pressing him to go get checked out, as I thought it was a tumor pressing on his optical nerve (pretty sure I was right too)

he came out of surgery on new years day, and beat cancer over the next year or two, but it had taken it's toll. soon thereafter, he collapsed one day and they found tumors on his spine and could no longer walk. He lost his will to survive after that, and died a week later.

Since then, there have been a couple funerals i've attended, including my great aunt last year in November. She came down with cancer and was in excruciating pain on her death bed. I firmly believe LSD had the power to ease her pain given what I know about it these days, but my family members wouldn't hear any of it. she went quick, and no one cared to tell me about what was going on until it was too late. we had hoped to see her soon, but she didn't make it before we could get down there.

No shroomerites that i've been very close to have died - yet. I'm very grateful for that. Lord Senate was probably one of the only ones I've interacted with to some relevant degree off the top of my head, but we never got close or anything.

:tombstone: RIP to all the fallen members.

Church type funerals I generally avoid unless it's family.
Memorial services I do attend because they're more a celebration of their life,
rather than seeing them put in the ground or crematory.

I used to like wakes too for the free :faded:

A shroomerites Memorial I might attend depending how geographically close we were.
