Mold on fruit?
    #23358005 - 06/18/16 12:53 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

What up guys? So I harvested a couple of fruits that matured quicker then the rest of my flush and noticed some greenish spotting discoloration on a couple fruits. Dose this look like mold to you guys?

I know I had the holes in my bins packed too tight and had too much co2 going on and not enough evaporation coming off the casing layer so I adjusted that by loosening the polyfill. If that is mold I'd suspect it is due to excessive moisture. In the pic it looks more yellow/ brownish but its actually a light greenish/ blue. Not quite sure if its just bruising. What I'm looking at is seen best in the middle of the stem on the fruit second down from the top of the pic. ALSO, I know this sound risky but even if it is mold would making tincture or tea be a safe alternative to eating dried fruits as the process of making it would kill the mold or bacteria growing?

Does it wipe off? I would wipe it off or cut it off it is indeed mold, and dry the fruits cracker dry. Then make tea with them or just munch down.

No, it doesn't wipe off. I got them in a food dehydrator right now so they will be cracker dry. Not worried about that.
It just looks a lil weird is all. But then again these are penis envy. I love them because they do all sorts of cool weird things as they grow.
No flush is ever the same. They might revert back to the texan strain or grow upside down. Ive noticed at least 3 different ways they come in.
I even notice weird stripes on the fruits some times.
I think they good to go. I just wanted to make sure.

They're infected with something.  Those dots aren't normal.  They'll probably be fine to eat but seems like they have a bit of a bacterial infection.  Definitely dry before eating.

Usually A contaminated cake will not produce fruits and if it does those fruits are typically safe to eat, THAT BEING SAID, YOUR fruits look like they have mold on them. This could be because of your drying process.

Long story short, I would toss them IMO ...better safe than sorry.

Boil them into a tea. You'll lose part of your psilocin but not all your psilocybin. Food poisoning is very real. Take it from a picker.. there's some shit that's worth tossing.

I'd just eat it.

Just dry that shit infront of a fan for a day or 2 and keep them in a jar with disseccant packets. Its what I do and I've been able to store shrooms for months

Had the same thing on fruits a while back. It happened when there was too much moisture and not enough drying between misting in the FC. They were fine after drying though. Nothing poisonous

ive noticed this happens on  extra watered fruits that get bruised or even touched  or can be caused by stress of the weight of the fruit. Noticed those are on the mid section.  like when you bruise a flower..

If you have the same thing and it has those dots on the stipe, then it's not just from bruising or bad conditions.  I feel like nobody's registering what is being said..

hm id probably toss em if it is indeed mold or bacteria of some sort. otherwise boiling in a tea would be my other option. while boiling might kill some of the psilocibin and make the trip weaker, itd be better than ingesting mold as far as im concerned :p

Just boil the fuckers and when it cools make lemonade.

Everyone wants scientific proof

Here it is!

Notice the temps listed 220C - 228C, That's 428F - 442F and it's the melting temp only.
If you take a solid and raise it's temp to its melting point, it becomes liquid.
Return that same liquid to it's solid temp and... you get the same original solid (it is not destroyed)
So... Psilocybin IS NOT DESTROYED at temps as high as 442F

Notice the temp for Psilocin, and that it is only measured in Methanol.
That is because in water... the oxygen molocules of the water would oxidize it and desrtoy it. (Not the heat)
So... when you dry your shrooms, The active ingredients of Psilocybin and Psilocin are exposed to oxygen destroying the Psilocin but not the Psilocybin, no matter what the temp is.

Keep in mind that this only refers to the chemical form... not live mycellium.

Lesson over, class may now eat their science projects
