OK so I'm pretty sure everyone hates cleaning jars or spending money on bags to pasteurize I did this once before and it worked great it takes about 4 hours total but I do enough for two 66qt tubs and have no jars to clean and saved 4$ on oven bags ...basically just fill a spaghetti pot up with whatever sub you're going to use and the handles will sit on your other pot I'm using my 23qt presto PC and fill water till maybe three inches from the top of the PC ... the water will evaporate so I keep a pot of boiling water next to it so you don't have to wait for the fresh water to reheat. .. I waited till the center hit 135-140 and I turned off the heat it climbed 10℉ in thirty minutes I usually go 1-1/2 hours for this big of sub from the time I turn off the heat obviously you have to monitor it to see if it's climbing or it's cooling down you want it 160-165 if you already don't know how hot it should be if it starts to go over I'm sure there isn't really anything you can do to prevent it from being partially sterilized and you're fucked ... hopefully it helps

Oh for the love of...
Don't you know you have to give it some catchy name that people can say later on to confuse noobs? Something like PiPP. Pot in Pot Pasteurization.
Nice idea though. Kinda like a double boiler, but not.

I don't need a catchy name it makes it easier for me and I'm sure if anyone else uses it it will for them also

Great post! I have the same PC and have been wanting to do some Panaeolus Tropicalis, Panaeolus Cyanescens, and some P.S. Azurescebs and this would make doing bulk sub so easy!

Ya man no worries I can't take full credit I wasn't aware someone else had already posted years ago but it does make it easier when you're trying to do multiple tubs ... I had 16 quarts and two half gallons and still had two vacuum seal bags wrapped in foil in the oven before I tried this haha
