Anger keeps getting worse and worse, had another incident today

I'm sure that as far as anger overflowing in public goes this is pretty mild, but I got quite angry about a very trivial occurrence in a store today. Left, got in my car and slammed the door so hard that my window shattered into a million pieces. Whole window was just gone. I'm probably lucky I didn't get a fragment in my eye. Scared the shit out of this old lady in the parking spot next to me, she came over and asked what happened so I told her calm as could be. I just cleaned up the bigger fragments of glass from the parking lot and left after that.
This is only my second real "incident," but I have a raging temper that is just festering and festering and I'm not quite sure what to do about it. You can see the marks all over my room, door dented with punches, hole in the wall.
Any other anger management type folks out there with advice? This is a pretty new problem for me, I used to just be super sad all the time, then I fixed that and got fairly happy for a few years, but now with festering anger underneath it...odd.
Writing this thread alone is helping actually...I've stopped slamming doors.

It's good you recognize it. I have the same problem. Usually it's because something else is bugging me, or I'm stressed over something else. Find out what's really making you mad or stressing you out and deal with that. I wish I had the answer. If you figure it out let me know.

I would get myself in anger management classes if you think it's this bad. I suffer a lot from anger, and I mean a lot but I am more vocal about it than physical. This anger has probably roots in childhood. I for example grew up in a very violent home, lots of shouting, physical and verbal abuse and lots and lots of anger and resentment. It rubbed off and shows up in my attitude and relationships. Only recently I acknowledged it and I am trying to do something about it by attending pyschotherapy. I have BPD also so I need more than anger management
You need someone to guide you to some calming exercises and possibly therapy to help you understand the root of the problem. Implementing breathing exercises, starting to meditate and work out is a good place to start releasing those extra stresses and tire out your body
What also helps me is keeping a journal where I practice Gibb's reflective cycle.
Everytime I get anger, something goes wrong or I fucked up I go to my journal and start the cycle to help me understand on what I did wrong, why I did those things to begin with and what can I do next time to help mediate the problem

Rbalzer - has there been any changes to your life since the anger has started? Money problems, break up, death in the family or trouble with your significant other?
Sometimes the biggest culprit is work stress!
