Grain to inoculate liquid culture
    #23354837 - 06/17/16 01:33 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

So after finishing some g2g transfers I have some left over. I made up some lc and I don't have a clean syringe at the moment and I'm sitting in front of my hood debating sprinkling  some grain into my lc jar to get it going. is this a good idea?

If your sterile process was good, I see no reason not to do this.

Probably would be a good idea to test the LC ok agar when it's done though, just to be safe

This is generally a bad idea. Your grain probably still has bacteria no matter how long you cooked it. Take that bacteria and drop it in sugary warmish water and watch it bloom.

This is why I do not like GLC's which is essentially what you're doing but much worse

Tried it, all I can say is that it works.
