I just recently went vegan * 2
    #23354407 - 06/17/16 11:08 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

I've been vegetarian for a little over 3 years now, I quit eating meat the same day I quit smoking cigarettes. When I went vegetarian, I always knew I'd go vegan one day. Well that day was about 3 or 4 days ago. No more cream cheese, sour cream, and mozerella cheese & spinach stuffed manicotti or any of that stuff anymore.

Going vegetarian was surprisingly very easy for me to do. Going vegan has been even easier so far which I'm actually even more surprised about.

I have a bad sugar addiction I'm getting over. I'm surprisingly fit for how much sugar I indulge in but I also cook everything from scratch with raw sugar so that probably helps (along with a high immune system). After I went vegetarian I felt so much better but anytime I ate dairy and/or sugar I could definitely feel it drag me down (which was pretty frequently if not daily). I still ate pretty healthy as in I kept my igredients simple and did my own cooking but what I made for myself admittedly isn't what my body needed.

Yesterday is when I did my real shopping. I munched on some organic blue corn tortilla chips and some black bean&corn salsa and then made a blueberry/strawberry/mango smoothie with some almond milk and flax seed and also ate some grapes.

This morning I brewed some organic coffee with hazelnut creamer (made from almonds) and I just finished my salad which consisted of baby spinach, red and green romaine lettuce, green and red chard, mizuna, arugula, radicchio (it was an organic salad mix) and drizzled this vegan poppyseed salad dressing that tasted fancy af and cut some apple and avocado into the salad.
I've also munched on the other half of that apple and 2 carrots throughout the day.

Within these 3-4 days of switching to vegan, I feel way better than I did already. When I eat I don't get this bloated lazy feeling. I'm also not waking up with stomach problems anymore at all. I would wake up with a bloated, gassy stomach and when I woke up today I noticed it was completely gone (which is a pretty big victory for me and what inspired this post). I also feel much more clear headed and happy. I seemed to have slept much better last night as well.

I'm also going to see how some of my old recipes do with some replacements...like for my pineapple cake I could use a banana instead of an egg and almond or cashew milk for the milk. Just to test it out.
I already know this vegan brownie recipe that's good af. I'd give them to people and no one had a clue they were vegan, they just went on and on about how good they were. They were so moist too.

I mean if you feel better, good for you. I'm just bustin your balls because it's pretty known that vegans love to let everyone know they're vegan

I actually tried it once to see if the health benefits were there and I really didn't feel much different..I felt more hungry though. Our diets are literally opposites of each other. Most of my calories come from fat, I have probably less than 30 carbs a day and I also feel better than before, plus I've noticed benefits on the surface too..better complexion, less bloat, healthier hair, healthier nails, and even my teeth feel healthier.

I think a huge part of health when it comes to diet is really just eatin real food whether it's animal products or vegan based foods.

I can feel that. I wouldn't say a vegan diet works for everyone but my body accepts it extremely well as opposed to anything else I've done. It's definitely for me

Yeah I know what you mean. I went 3 years as a vegetarian with that mindset and it seems to have worked well for me. Is factory farming and thinking animals were put here specifically for humans okay? Absolutely not. Is eating meat morally wrong? Not according to nature.

Although I will say that the 3 years I've been vegetarian, I've been stereotyped as one of those people that shoves it down everyone's throat and in result they feel the need to shove it down my throat as to why eating meat is ok.

They'll ask me "So what made you go vegetarian?" and I'll explain my reasoning without making any accusations and they'll start on me about their beliefs and why it's okay. It happens very often believe it or not.

I think the stigma definitely goes both ways.

And as this post demonstrates, I am proud of becoming a vegan and I believe there's a certain level of respect I deserve for the challenges I face for my choice. Should everyone have to follow and do as I do? Absolutely not. But I still believe I deserve that respect nonetheless.

As much as I disagree with a lot of vegans on how they go about explaining their reasons for doing what they do, I still have love and respect for them because I know where they're coming from. It's not easy knowing what goes on in those factory farms and knowing there's so much brutality and torture and no one cares.

It's not about people eating meat, it's about people not caring and respecting life in general. That's what makes me mad. But I know throwing dead animal pictures and screamin and gettin mad at people is only going to push them further away from what I want them to do.

I'm a vegan, I have great variety of food, and I'm very healthy and about to start working out a lot more soon. The point I'm trying to get at is, I lead by example, not by ranting to people who don't care and only get satisfaction from watching me get upset.

Also, sorry for the triple post, but I've made a few people switch to a vegetarian diet without pressuring them or mentioning anything about it. They would just watch me do what I do and they asked questions and before I knew it they were trying it.

It's emotionally easier on me to not worry about them and know that I'm still making a difference by just doing what I feel is right.

I'll never be a vegan myself (outside that short period I experimented with it) but I agree about factory farming. I live right up the street from a farmer who has free range everything..cows, chickens, pigs..I get most of my meat from him and I hunt on occasion so that's about the best I think I can do

Keep it up!! Took me a while to go vegan. Meat was easy to give up, but the cheese and dairy was hard as hell to kick because of that casomorphine compound.

Wait until you finally get over the bread and make it raw for 3 days, it really lights your brain up with a high you've never felt!! And I've done almost every drug on the planet, INXS, so trust me.  Just make sure you eat enough or you'll get tired.

If your not satisfying your carb/energy necessity and natural salt craving through salty veggies, and your natural sweet tooth craving through sweet fruit, your going to use artificially salted and sweetened cooked processed foods especially processed grains which are high carb.  It'll get you through your day, but it's a different feeling than raw.

Natural raw meat is not salty or sweet...

PM me if you have questions.

Good for you, man! It's good that your body responded well to the diet. I agree with wakeinpeople, you gotta be eating constantly since all that food gets digested pretty quickly. I always have that problem especially at work.. ugh.

Everyone is different but I would argue a vegan or vegetarian diet is not a balanced diet. Protein wise you would really have to fill that gap with something an fats also if you are skipping out on meat.

Hey man! So happy to hear about another vegan on Shroomery. I've been vegan for a year now, and let me tell you, it just keeps getting better. I was vegetarian for a while, and a strong DMT experience coupled with 2.6mg LSD prompted me to adopt a purely plant based diet.

My energy levels are through the roof, and I feel like my palate has expanded. I can taste so many more flavors in my food.

I feel so much better about myself knowing that I'm not contributing to the suffering of animals in factory dairy operations, or the sadness of battery hens that never get to see the outdoors. (and who would want to eat a chicken's period, anyway?)

You're not supposed to give dairy products to hunting dogs because it kills their sense of smell. Cheese and dairy, (cow nipple milk,) does the same thing to humans. Kills your sense of smell, kills your taste buds.

:seriousthumbsup:

Don't listen to these haters. When you're 98 and still out mushroom hunting, all the rest of these people are going to have been incontinent and balding and on heart medication for a decade, if not dead.

Please feel free to send me a message if you want to talk about vegan stuff or need and recipe ideas. It's always really awesome to know there's others out there that don't find you strange. :haha

I'd recommend you check out apple bananas and Thai bananas, also. The banana family is so much more diverse than just your plain old Cavendish bananas, you can find em at most natural food coops. Also, if you get a craving for ice cream, there's plenty of delicious cashewmilk ice creams that capture the right creamy texture you're looking for. Cashews are going to be your main staple in a little while. Cashew cheeses and cashew milk are super dank, and mmake me wonder why I ever ate dairy to begin with.

Congrats again man on adopting your new plant based lifestyle!

My great grandfather lived to be about that age and his diet consisted of mostly meat, eggs and dairy..thing is it was free range meat and dairy. Meat and dairy are not bad for you. Only the other shit they put in it in the factories. Veganism does not guarantee you a long life. Don't remember the guys' names, but 2 Americans went to stay up in Canada and lived on nothing but fish and seal blubber for 10 years and had no health problems..and their hair actually got thicker, since you mention balding. Something I noticed myself too after eating more fat. The healthiest regions in the world consist of people who eat a lot of fish, vegans really aren't as healthy as you think. That's why so many end up buying supplements so they're not vitamin deficient.

I'm a supplement-free vegan because I'm not an idiot and I know how to spend time on the internet researching how to get the nutrition I need.

The main vitamins vegans can become deficient in are B-12 and Iron, which is supplied by the nutritional yeast that's in my cashew cheese sauces, and used as seasoning on my vegetables. Iron is in a lot of plants, you just have to google the highest content ones.

Vegans who don't know how to eat right, or sickly vegans who don't take care of themselves are an embarrassment to healthy vegans everywhere, and I discourage you from branding all of us with a stereotype, simply because you've never met a heathy vegan. The chances are, you've never met more than you could count on one hand.

Some vegans ARE unhealthy. These are what I like to call "freezer vegans." A meal of poptarts, oreos, taco bell, and tater tots CAN technically be vegan, but it's not a healthy meal. As a vegan, you're almost certainly required to spend hours in the kitchen every day, to prepare the kind of food that you need for a balanced diet.

I suggest you all watch "Food Matters" and "Food, Inc." on Netflix.

Also, look into the China Study, and the documentary Plant Pure Nation. It was a study done by American doctors in regions of rural China, where people statistically live longer than anywhere else in the world. The enormous amount of data they collected revealed that the more entirely plant based the diets of individuals were, the more likely they were to live longer lives.

This is an actual study, by actual doctors, (The Hippocrates Health Institute,) who made an actual documentary about it, called "Plant Pure Nation," which is showing in small theaters nationwide. The doctor in charge of the study, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, dedicated the rest of his life to spreading the knowledge that a plant-based lifestyle is the healthiest way to live.

There's an overwhelming amount of data to indicate that meat and dairy contribute to the degradation of the human body.

Even if the statement were true that, "meat and dairy aren't bad for you, just the stuff they put in it at the factory," think about what all that stuff is. Antibiotics to keep the animals from getting sick in tightly packed, shit-filled cages. Artifical hormones to make them grow larger, faster. I encourage you to check out the FDA standard for what constitutes animal feed. Some animals are fed various organic matter and garbage instead of feed.

There's been a lot in the press about problems at the Butterball factory with people raping the turkeys. If you've ever eaten a Butterball turkey, you've probably eaten a load of some Mexican workers jizz, too.

The conditions these animals are kept in are inhumane, but most of you aren't concerned about that. What you SHOULD be concerned about, even if you don't like animals, is what they're shooting them up with before they feed them, (and the secretions from their nipples,) to you!

The only problem i have with feeding large amounts of medications to lifestock is that it contributes to the formation of resistant germs who could pose a very real thread. I dont mind eating a bit of jizz here and there

word castle.

pretty much all I caught was how vegans dont know how to eat well and you are the exception to all of them right?

and ohhh how them poor animals suffer.  With their advanced neurological system and their complex emotional feelings and thoughts.  You can see clearly that they are dying inside, every moment in their life is pure agony.

Well honey plants feel things too.  Thats why they have defense systems in place, they really dont want to be eaten either. The best thing to do is stop eating all together and learn to live off air and sunlight only.  Its reprehensible, the need to consume other living things so we may live.  It makes me cringe, it hurts inside so much.

The china study didn't take physical activity between the different regions into account, that already makes it harder to see accurate comparisons. And judging by the results of the study I mentioned about the men spending 10 years eating fish and blubber without adverse health effects, and the fact that another study showed that the frequency at which you eat can shorten life span, I'm willing to bet that if vegans live longer it likely has something to do with the fact that they tend to eat more fiber and obviously their foods are less calorie dense but still filling. Both factors that tend to keep people satiated longer and eating less. But I'm just taking a guess

What kind of dairy products are you talking about? There's a big difference in nutrition if you're comparing raw or pasteurized milk. Raw milk is probably one of the healthiest things you can drink. Also I live right up the street from a farm, and I live in the sticks..I don't buy meat from stores. I hunt and I walk up the street and buy cuts from the farmer whose animals are all free range and eat grass and bugs only. I could probably eat that meat raw and be fine. You should talk to some people that are, say, at least in their 60s and ask what they ate back in their day. A lot will say (at least in my region) that they cooked a ton of their food in fat, and ate meat that wasn't factory farmed and the problems vegans tend to associate with meat really weren't an issue. The problems vegans associate with meat started becoming an issue when junk food and factory farming became popular..and interestingly enough, people also started getting fatter around the same time that people started saying that eating fat makes you fat.

There's another option that some people like to float around too when it comes to why some people are healthier on a vegan diet and some are healthier with a more balanced diet..blood types. The idea that what is best for you is related to what your ancestors survived on. It sounds possible but I haven't looked into it much.

I do recommend that if you eat meat, you should try hunting though if you don't already. I actually feel that if you eat meat, you should have the nerve to be able to kill your own food. Not implying you should have to do it everytime, but just be able to do it. I think it's really weird when people who eat meat are too afraid or sad about killing to hunt.

Didn't read all of that but yes, I definitely have more energy. I've been eating almost all organic and this whole week I slipped up and had a slice of cake..but I regretted it after an had no problem staying the course.

About the only supplement I have is this awesome vegan poppy seed ranch dressing as almond milk for smoothies.
The rest of my diet consists of fresh/frozen fruits & vegetables,

I will say that most of the advice that states opinions like "being vegan isn't getting you enough of what you need" is pointless to me. Most people that tell me this have tried a vegetarian/vegan diet for a couple months at most (if at all). My first year of being vegetarian I felt pretty crappy. I didn't know how I should eat and I was still addicted to all the crapnibwas ingesting. After that year I lost all want to eat meat. I use to miss the smell and now it makes me sick. Lately I could feel anytime I put dairy into my body, it made me sluggish and I could tell it was making me unbalanced emotionally.

Besides the fact that I just got my ass kicked, but feel so much better. All this "I've heard this" and "I've heard that" and "you can do this" but "you can't do that" is just gibberish to me. Sounds like a bunch of pro meat idiots trying to shove their 2 cents in any vegan post they can find.
What the hell brought you to this post if you're not vegan other than the fact you wanted to stick your nose in and say "hey, you gotta eat meat." even though I can clearly feel how much better it is without it.

The pro-meat people are much worse and much more annoying than the anti-meat people I assure you. They're at least more annoying than me, I know that. I bring up vegan topics where it's appropriate and in places I'm allowed to...and here come the meat dick riders spamming me with "you need to eat meat because that's not for everyone and eating meat is okay"....

Shut the fuck up and let me do my shit.

This isn't a post about "if you do eat meat". I'm a vegan an your posts are fucking rude and contribute to nothing I'm talking about. Make a post about hunting and talk about it there if you want asshole but don't start filling my post about me turning vegan with that bullshit.

Haha it looks like being vegan has made you emotional..because I wasn't even fucking talking to you, nor was I telling anyone that they should eat meat. I was rebutting what the other dude said about meat being bad for you and my comment about how you should be able to hunt if you eat meat was directed towards sprinkles. Seems like you got the sense beaten out of you.

And on a side note, thank you for those who support me and actually had something to contribute to the original post. Your message weren't overlooked and I'll definitely be messaging some of you.

Hearing people talk about how you should eat meat and why you should eat meat on any conversation about "veganism" I have just gets fucking annoying o me these days so that was the first thing I focused on.

Your posts have been nothing about you arguing meat propaganda bullshit. "My grandfather lived to 90 from eating meat so it's good for you"
Lol

but keep acting like you're here just having a casual conversation with the vegans...it's believable.

Oh were you looking for a pat on the back or something? Go post on a vegan forum if you can't handle some differing opinions. I wouldn't have said any of that had the other dude not start going off about how unhealthy and gross he thinks meat eaters are. None of my comments were about how you shouldn't be vegan. Calm down kid.

Lol you've been arguing anything that's been said that's positive about being vegan.

And yeah, I was sort of looking for a pat on the back as well as advice from other vegans on my diet choice and foods/methods I could use. If you'll read the rules, this thread isn't for arguing and flaming and all that other bullshit.

Good job calling me kid by the way. You sound really hard and mature over the Internet when you do that.

And yes...I'm sure him stating that he thought killing animals to cook their meat an eat it is disgusting was perfect justification for you to go on about how they should be eaten and hunted the "right" way.

Hmmm...saying they think eating meat is disgusting in a vegan thread...contributes to the original post? Yep.

Going on about hunting animals the "right" way...contributing to the original post?

How dare I say something? I don't know what I was thinking.

Lol get over yourself dude. Yeah you got your own opinions...so go use them in a barbeque thread or somewhere that it actually goes with what's being talked about rather than the complete opposite.

I wasn't arguing about everything you've said positive about it..I was arguing about what was said negatively about eating meat and dairy. The only thing I've said that you could say was negative about veganism is that a lot of vegans resort to supplementing with vitamins, whether it's because they're doing a shitty job at being vegan or that it doesn't suit a lot of people, and that vegans aren't as healthy as you think which wasn't meant to imply vegans can't be healthy, but to say that he is exaggerating the benefits compared to non vegans. And the hunting comment, once again, wasn't directed towards either of you. I was telling sprinkles, who clearly thinks you should eat meat, that if you're going to do it, it makes more sense to actually be able or willing to hunt yourself. You should've never made a vegan thread and expected these types of comments to not show up. I mean fuck I wasn't even being hostile. Has the swelling gone down in your eyes? Because it seems you're having trouble reading.

Well my post ranting off wasn't about you specifically anyways  you have to realize that between the last time I posted and today l, there's a lot of replies I was addressing and also just ranting about people in general. Although, yes the hunting comment was clearly directed at you and I didn't even see who posted it at the time anyways.

I'm a vegan making a post about turning vegan so when I'm scrolling and seeing all of this junk about hunting and eating th the right way and this and that from different people, you can kind of see how that would be frustrating.
I'm not trying to shove it down everyone's throats but just didn't make the post with the intention of getting into all of that. Plus I just woke up. But truth be told this is the Internet and I really won't care 5 minutes from now so it's really whatever. But that's all I was getting at.

I'd love to see a thread about veganism on Shroomery that isn't a clusterfuck of anti-vegan hate, but alas. For a website dedicated to people who partake of mushrooms, you guys act pretty unshroomy.

Why don't you stop posting contradictory foolishness and make yourself a thread called "vegans are malnourished," or "hunting is great, who else hunts?" Or even, "my head is too far up my ass, how do I pull it out?!"

Why are you even on this thread other than to play the devil's advocate and to ruin an enjoyable discussion between vegans? Hope you find a hobby or a girlfriend someday.

Congratulations Kush, you've made a douchey vegan friend and wasted absolutely no time in joining the douchey elitist vegan club. I think that was a record. I tried showing that I wasn't being hostile until your little vegan tantrum but I know that +1 on this muppet's post is from you

The true question is : Are vegans allowed to swallow cum ?

Its definitely an animal product so someone thats truly dedicated to follow the vegan doctrine should avoid it.

On the other hand if there should be an exception for cum what about cannibalism ? Are vegans allowed to eat human corpses ? What about menstrual fluid ?

So many questions that need answers. I just cant wait to start a vegan discussion with you guys !

:whathesaid: You deserve a tremendous amount of respect for the step you've taken here, but sadly, most people who would congratulate you won't take the time to type it out here, while most people who want to argue about it with you have allll day to hang out and debate. Because, ya know, they're internet trolls.

At least you know there's somebody in here who received a tremendous amount of happiness to see another vegan on the Shroomery with the testicular forditude to talk about it.

The fact that you already understand that throwing dead animal pictures and telling people about the suffering in factory farms isn't going to change anything about their beliefs is a huge

Vegans who try to change people's hate with more hate are just contributing to a negative stereotype for the rest of us who want to be respected for our choices.

:mindblown:

This was my favorite part of this whole thread. "Well man, I heard about these two guys...don't remember the names but they lived on pure blubber and were healthy so the entire vegan movement is entirely full of shit. And they didn't get bald, I can't remember the names, but I can confirm they had hair."

:nojustno:

If you've never met a supplement free vegan, it's probably because they run the other way when they hear your old, recycled anti-vegan arguments coming. Do you seriously think we haven't heard this a million and one times in person?

I gave you the names of documentaries, studies, doctors, and you come at this with a story you heard from a friend of a friend about seal blubber eaters? This makes you look super great at what you're doing here.

The answer to this is no, if you swallow cum, the Vegan Police will take you to Vegan Jail, and haul you in front of the secret Vegan Court, where you recieve a public lashing with a wet noodle, and get points taken off your Vegan Card.

Repeat offenses result in being kicked out of our secret Vegan society.

:cop:

Lol at "vegan doctrine." It's less about "following the rules of vegan" and more about...just not eating dead bodies, aged cow nipple secretions, and other things that gross me out.

They say that eating meat is partially responsible for the amount of intelligence humans have now compared to other primates..if there's any truth to that at all, maybe it would explain why you're too slow to realize you could just google the study I'm talking about. We hear your vegan BS pretty often too, but no matter how many times you say it's healthier, it doesn't actually make you actually look any healthier.

I'll leave you two to your little effeminate echo chamber. :peace:

Who's "they," and what studies are you referring to? Let's see some proof. Can you imagine a collegiate level debate where one of the two arguing throws up his hands and says, "Sources?! I don't need SOURCES! YOUR VIEWPOINT IS MAKING YOU STUPID AND YOU SHOULD USE GOOGLE TO FIND MY SOURCES FOR ME!"

This is seriously pathetic.

Terence McKenna attributed increased prefrontal cortex activity during the period in human evolution known as "The Great Leap Forward," to the consumption of psychedelic mushrooms by our ancestors. It's called the "Stoned Ape Theory."

I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. There's thousands of pages of discussion dedicated to exploring the possible reality of this theory. What's your theory called?

"Why People Should Eat Meat By Eminence?"

I think you should make a website, hand out some flyers. You could really get yourself a following.

Yup, us vegans are super douchey.

I'm about to have some of this vegan rhubarb-raspberry pie my wife made for breakfast.

I wonder what he's having? Probably seal blubber and fish heads or something. For somebody who clearly dislikes vegans, he certainly has plenty of time to sit on this thread dedicated to veganism and whine.

I have seen plenty.

Everyone is different!

I personally thrive on most plants with some animal protein (fish, eggs, and poultry only) thrown in. Grains and dairy do not agree with me so I try to keep those to small occasional indulgences, although I've been eating a lot of delicious grass fed cheese lately.

Let's all agree that vegetables are delicious. Meat or no meat. Can't live without em. How annoying are picky ass people who hate veggies?

I hate veggies. I'm a born carnivore. Got massive canine teeth so I take that as a sign.

I'll eat veggies anyway, but prefer a plate full of meat. How do these 'picky ass people who hate veggies' annoy you?

People who hate veggies annoy me because they are spoiled enough to have the option to avoid a whole food group. It also means you have a terrible pallet and you are missing out on flavors in many cuisines. I'm not a vegan and I eat a lot of meat as well but veggies pickled, fermented and cooked are awesome. Whatevsies.

Hang on, you live in one of the richest nations in the world... You're spoiled. I'm spoiled. There's no doubt about that. I've visited the third world on a few occasions, we are spoiled beyond belief, regardless of our choice in food. The fact that we even have choice; the fact that you have choice to enjoy vegetables and the fact that I have choice to enjoy meat, considering the starving masses on this planet is the essence of being spoiled. I put it to you that you stand in no position to judge anyone here as being 'spoiled' simply due to their preference for macronutrient sources.

And stating that someone has a 'terrible pallet' is so subjective. So basically you think that anyone who doesn't share the same tastes as you is 'spoiled', 'picky', and 'annoying'?

My my. Why so judgemental?

Fair enough. I was just surprised by your answer is all. No hard feelings, just trying to understand why you would feel that way.

All good I didn't really think all of that through as well as you did before I replied. Didn't mean to strike a nerve. My older brother used to make me eat his broccoli when my parents weren't looking so it's probably just a deep seeded issue. My therapist is going to have his hands full tomorrow...

LOL, I saw mine day before yesterday. Trying to get to the bottom of my compulsive drug use at the moment - also, undoubtedly, a deep seeded issue.

No nerve struck man, and I apologise if I came on a little strong. I can get a little heated in debate at times.

Peace out.

Ever check out the canines on a hippo? They've got some of the biggest canines in the world and they don't eat meat. They're exclusively herbivores. Other animals with massive canines, (wayyyy bigger than yours, JSB,) who don't eat meat are gorillas, camels, and even the saber toothed deer.

Yep, I said it. The saber-toothed deer doesn't eat anything but leaves, flowers, grasses, and moss.

In fact, nearly every animal gifted with extraordinary canine teeth uses them not for the consumption of food, but for defense in territorial disputes or when competing for a mate.

Here's the article I'm referencing so you can see pictures of the enormous teeth.

Big Teeth Gallery

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but if I had a nickel for every time someone said to me, "Humans are supposed to eat meat, we have canine teeth, duh!" I would be a very rich man.

It's been a long time since our common ancestors used canines to bite each other over food, territory, and females.

I would hunt if I had to survive. But i can go to the grocery store.  I do not have to feel my heart sink when ive wounded some healthy animal for no reason other than its minding its own business.

I've been putting animals down for almost 15 years, thousands. killing for sport would bring me no pleasure or pride at all.  Yes I understand the meat is cleaner, I admit the hunting part would be fun, but seeing it be hit with a bullet wouldnt do anything for me other than make me sick.

Atleast when I kill something its out of mercy and compassion, to put an end to its suffering. Something we cant even do for our ownselves (which is fucking awful by the way). I generally only dispatch healthy animals that have behavior problems.  it is not fair to pass those problems on to other people.  Either it is because they are dangerous, or because they go to the bathroom inappropriately most often.
