I had a bad trip on calamus root

I misunderestimated (to borrow a term from GWB) its psychedelic power and took it in a bad set and setting when I really didn't want/intend to trip but it made me trip. I dont even know how to describe the effect, the trip is as different from shrooms as salvia is from shrooms, except unlike salvia calamus is extremely subtle and its effect hard to describe or pin down. Its not really visual either, but opens your mind in a totally different way. WIll have to experiment with it again in a better frame of mind. Anyone here use calamus?

I've always been curious. Have you tried nutmeg, and if yes would you compare them?
I have always assumed that nutmeg, sassafras, and calamus would give roughly the same experience. Then there's the subject of black pepper potentiation and all that jazz. Interesting stuff.

Beta-Asarone I believe. It is carcinogenic to some degree.

I have not tried nutmeg what makes you think it would be similar to calamus root?

Is this anything like Calamus Draco (Dragon's Blood Incense) Resin Chunks?
I was drunk last week and I ordered some stuff without thinking, and one of the things was these resin chunks. It was cheap, like $2 for an ounce. The stuff looks cool in it's bag, but I can't find much info on what it does and how you take it. Pretty sure it's crap...
Don't go ordering stuff on the internet when you're drunk!

The active ingredients in calamus and mutmeg are essential oils with three carbon chains.
Both are very similar to synthetic amphetamines, and it was theorized at one time that they metabolized into said chemicals in vivo.

Nutmeg is terrible. It makes you feel super feverish, a little nausea, and barely any visuals. I always got real hot like uncomfortably hot, and then visually just some light breathing

The key to nutmeg is not taking it on its own from what I have read.
Myrsticine is either not active on its own or becomes much more active w other herbs.

Isn't it black pepper that can be used to potentiate it?

parsley seed and vanilla beans also have the MDA-like structure. I tried nutmeg twice and threw the rest of my pound away.
