You're ridiculous. Maybe I will listen? It wouldn't be a big mystery and I'd bootfuck the guy who tried. You can take my word on that. How about you listen, take your own problems somewhere else instead of whining that other people's lifestyles aren't as special as yours.

Based on responses, I guess it's a ridiculous thing to suggest that maybe the two owners should be men and settle their dispute like adults,  and that animal control shouldn't have to be brought in to exterminate a living being who got dealt a shit hand...all because you both failed to secure your dogs' perimeters.

I certainly blame the Rottweiler owner.  People that let their dogs get like that are pieces of shit.  But you can't deny that when you live by something like that you play some responsibility in protecting your dog.  We don't live in a safe hippie dippie world and when we take ownership of a pet we assume responsibility for them.  It's our responsibility to protect our animals too.

No, here's what most likely will potentially happen, they will be forced to put up a 6 foot or higher fence or turn over their dog to animal control. Which it then would probably be euthanized. This happened to an idiot friend who's dog in the same city got out and bit the post man. He put up a fence.

To be fair they shouldn't have a dog they do not take care of anyway and leaving it behind a 4 foot fence thinking it's going to stop it from getting out or attacking again is irresponsible. Even if I put up a fence on my side their entire yard is enclosed by the same fence and he could still easily do the same to another.

Considering his hand got all sorts of fucked up i think he could argue his life is in danger. Hell cops would most definitely be on his side.

The dog bit me. I wouldn't have faced any legal repercussions aside from potentially being sued for the value of the dog. In this case I don't think even that would be a worry.

Clearly the owners don't give a fuck. Adoption for the dog is the best answer but it probably won't happen

Simply being bit doesn't mean your life is in danger.  Just giving you a heads up.  It wouldn't be legal repercussions from the dog owners.  It would be that discharging your firearm without facing a life threatening situation is a felony.

See one thing that's cool about dog rescue programs, they actually come to your house first and meet all the family members to make sure it's a good environment for a dog

These asshole neighbors would have been denied

Considering how much you come across as a whiny little bitch on here, I doubt you have the balls to do anything like that. Most dog owners would beat the fuck out of you for doing that. You might as well be giving their children rat poison candy. I doubt you understand the love and bond an owner (who actually cares about their dog) has with their dog, but they are family and you do not fuck with family.

Not concerned with a discharging my firearm charge. Not going to happen, not here and ecspecially not if you shot a dog that was biting you.

Exactly, so fix the fence.  That's what I've said all along.  I mean yeah the rott owner should absolutely  have to do it but it's a situation where OP's dog is in danger.  I know if it was my dog and he was by a shitty chain link fence and a dangerous aggressive dog I'd pile up a bunch of big rocks to block off his entry points.  You can't really fix a piece of shit owner,  by you can always do your part to protect your dog.

I could name my city and you would understand. The cops will do nothing. My uncles first response when he heard about it was "why our didn't you shoot it?". My uncle retired from the department here a year ago.

yeah just with this particular case, theres more to the problem than the fence. These assholes watched their dog nearly kill another dog and they did nothing. These people don't deserve to own a dog

Should I pay to fence in their entire yard? That shitty fence encloses their entire property he could easily do the same or worse on 3 other sides. Should they be allowed to have that dog still without containing it on all, but my side? probably not.

Just be persistent OP. Get copies of your medical records, contact animal control and have the rot put down. See if you can email the Animal control facility. This is a situation where you need to document, document, document.

This sounds like its completely the neighbors fault.

The neighbors dog broke through HIS fence, and came onto YOUR property. People that can't control large dogs capable of damage need to be able to control them.

If my American Bulldog and Boxer got out and killed the rottweiler, I get the feeling the same people saying, it's my fault about my boston would have a completely different opinion and insist I contain my monster dogs immediately. Not oh your neighbor should have built a  bigger fence.

But they aren't dog aggressive and go out of leashes anyway.

Given the city you are in, Your dog size, your neighbor, and the assumption you want to protect your dog, it seems like the most correct answer to that question is yes.
