I was at this local event today and there was a tarot card booth set up I've never had a reading done before but it was very interesting. The guy was very surprised on my cards. He was using the Thoth deck and he did like a cross pattern with 4 cards. The first was the strength card on the left and the present was the ace of cups the future was the prince of cups and on the right was a card called aliesters sigil. I don't remember the bottom card but he was very surprised on the outcome of my reading and he didn't really tell me much about it. He just said I said research crowleys teaching. I'm just looking for a little more insight on this thanks

I am trying to learn but having trouble remembering what the cards mean and the subtle differences. I also get confused when the pictures on my deck are significantly different from the deck in the lessons I am using. I have a Ryder Wayde deck, but matching each card with an herb.
As for Crowley he was an english magician and religious leader. He created a religion called thelema I think, generally people say a lot of good and bad stuff about him.

I can't interpret them for you, as the layout doesn't sound like one I know of. If it was a cross spread, there should be six cards. One to the left representing the past, one in the middle (present), on the right future, above heaven/higher self etc., below the ground/self. One card should be laying horizontal across the middle card, representing the bridge, or how you will get from the past to the present to the future. The strength can represent a taming power, or some sort of loss pushing the querant to act with force. Cups represent water, emotions, and matters of the heart. Aces = 1, which can mean beginning, singularity, existence. A prince is the son of a King, has power, but is not as wise. I have no idea what Aleister's sigil is or represents.
So maybe there is some sort of hurt or injustice you have suffered which has caused you to act with force, and you are currently in a position to begin dealing with your emotions face to face, rather than projecting them outward. This could lead to a beginning of new relationship with your emotions, which in turn will make you wiser emotionally.
That's my take, but I have only used a rider deck as well, but really need to get a thoth deck.

Thanks guys, I've been reading and I now believe this guy was a noob/poser the sigil card was the unicursal hexagram card and from what I read most people consider that an extra card and don't even use it in readings.

That sounds about right. He sounds like a poser. If you want to get into tarot, I think the best way is to learn it for yourself. It's seriously complex, and is supposed to represent the order of the universe at that time with consideration of the query. Someone who's good might give you an accurate reading, but ultimately you are the one who must interpret it.

That's a link to download Crowley's interpretation of the Thoth Tarot. Good read so far, though quite dense. If you check the websites homepage, there is a wealth of Magickal books to download for free.

My favorite Tarot is the African American Tarot first and the Hanson Roberts Tarot second. The first is a Tarot based on native African legends and folklore, the second is a super cute fairy tale like deck based on the Rider Waite.
A few weeks ago I managed to perform a true feat of Magic under guidance of my Spirit Guide. He congratulated me and insisted that I now was a Wizard and that if I'd draw a card from both decks they would underline that.
Its been said about me all my life but I never took it.
I drew the African tarot. The Magician. I drew the European tarot. The Magician.
This blew me away and I let the image of the African Tarot's Magician be printed on a 3x5ft flag which now hangs in my livingroom.

I have come home.
