It will work dude but the fact that it says 'traceable' means that it's designed for use in giant food production facilities where there is a danger of equipment falling into a vat of food.

Totally not necessary but I'm all for complicating projects.

How do you plan to hook it up?

TC has a point. It might be simpler to use a timer. By the time the auto-thingy detects the humidity level and turns on the appropriate equipment you might be drying out too much.

hopefully you get to check on it at least once a day so adjustments should be no big deal

I got mine from fisher as well. It's a hair hygrometer and it was something like 56 bucks and it works great for me..

IMHO, that kind of money is not worth the reward of that kind of automation. I honestly don't think it will help make things better or easier in the way you think it might; not anymore than just using your timers.

Gggyea, I looked for a week researching what type to buy, and came to the conclusion that the hair hygrometer was most accurate. Some people put them in a ziplock bag and wrap them in a moist towel or some shit to make sure it's calibrated right, but I never did and didn't have a problem.. As long as you don't buy a cheap piece o junk it should work well

nawww, sorry if I wasn't clear. I went with the normal hair hygrometer, and just checked it twice daily and misted as needed. I don't know exactly what you're trying to automate?

That is what i "was" trying to automate i have it all set up now just waitting on supplys and its no big deal just to use my timers , i just didnt know if that would work i mean i seen the analong for 100 on fisher website but seen that for 50 bucks more . But yeah once i get it dialed in ill just have check it a few times a day itll pretty much be automated .. thanks for the options you guys saved me wasting 150 bucks

It was an allusion to the fact that most people using hygrometers are relying on an arbitrary number to read conditions of a substrate which tells you everything it needs just by looking at it.  Eyes might take calibration too but not more than a few minutes of reading worth.  In the case of greenhouses it's a bit more important to know what's goin on but exact numbers still aren't going to matter as much as fine tuning based on real experience.

Was planning on doing a GH project in the near future. Found this on my amazon search the other day. Half the price of the one you linked. Thought Id share. Not as fancy.
