Hi all, was wondering if there is a use for well colonized contamination free chunks of cake? A foaf had a jar that colonized strongly except for 1/4 of it where water had splashed in. Any use or all trash?

hm, i dont know for sure. but if its healthy myc of course it can be used!
if its contam free, id transfer to agar to make sure its safe. do a few more transfers and keep it going! or g2g transfer as well would work if you want to increase that small block into something nice and big.
OR, maybe just fruit it if its large enough?
pictures would do wonders here though honestly

It was the most direct answer to your question. I mean I guess you could use them as paperweights if you didn't like that idea..

Ok i guess i really have to spell it out for you guys... the cake is not perfect, therefore im not going to birth it with the perfect ones i have (inoculated a few more cakes than i have room for in my fruiting chamber, so that i could afford to have some lost to bad colonization/contams). So i wanted suggestions on how to use this to further my next cycle. Shoutout to Mycoloopology for at least suggesting something useful.
