I really wouldn't do it though, to be honest. Super easy to get a contaminated LC this way.

There's not really a TEK or directions I know of. Follow any cloning TEK then put the tissue into your LC. Bad idea but it can be done

Can totally be done.
Lower success rates. But if you haven't opened up your fruiting chamber recently then perhaps (and this is purely my speculation) the outside layer of mycelium is composed of mostly new cells.
Those should be pretty clean.

My very first inoculant was an LC that was knocked up with a clone. Surprisingly, it was successful but it was just pure dumb luck. I probably wouldn't be able to do it again if I tried. I end up contaminating clean LCs after just one session normally, there's no way I am going to increase any more risk to an already risky situation.

LC without agar is like driving on the interstate without brakes. Sure you can do it, but its a disaster waiting to happen.

If you want to clone straight to lc let me give you advise. It's a numbers bet only use inner tissue. Only make clear karo lc and do the trafers in a glove box. Most argue sab but don't with this process. The best way with out agar is to in glovebox rip the mushroom in half and cut out with a achol cleaned knife into a new ziplock bag. Then flatted out the closed bag sample with hand. Wait a few days to give the myc cells to reform with fussys. Then drop the sample in lc jar all done in glove box. Make about ten lc jars with ten or more different clones. Most times you can get about three contam free lc jars this way.

You missed the best part though. Using an alcohol sanitized scalpel and throwing the clone into a ziplock for a few days.
May I ask, why not just throw the tissue into the LC in the first place? Any reason why the scalpel can't be flame sterilized? What's so special about karo LC? (malt is clearer IME) Also, as space said, SABs > GB. The glove box makes it especially easier to disturb the air inside. I'm starting to think that you told him all that to make him fail so he buys agar for his next try

glad to hear it! you will not regret this decision. agar is the gatekeeper to unlimited mycological potential.

AGAR AGAR AGAR and isolate that shit. If you are going to do it don't take any shortcuts. Agar isolating and cloning isn't really that difficult.
Just do it on agar IMO
