Book Series Recommendations 1

I'm looking for a good series of novels to read. I just finished reading The Lord of The Rings. Before that I read The Dark Tower and The Stand. I've got a long list of single book works, but it's a bit more difficult for me to find something several books long.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good multi-book series?

Dune is supposed to be excellent, haven't gotten around to it yet though. Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy is amazing, though you can find it in one large novel rather than a bunch.

Ive been reading books from the Moonworld saga by Sean McMullen.
I read the The Time Engine first (last book). It was soooo goood. One of the best books ive ever read. Really funny too.
Now im reading Voyage of the Shadowmoon, the first book. Its awesome. Its a fantasy series based around this world thats surrounded by moons, and these moons create all sorts of strange magic powers for people. Mix of dark ages with weird magic. Really funny and smart.
I also finished Shades of Earth by Beth Revis. Its part of the Across the Universe series. Sci fi drama mystery adventure. A blend of many genres. Really good book. It has these chapters that alternate between the first person male main character and the first person main female character. And its done in a really clever way. Awesome read, highly recommend. Ive only read Shades of Earth, the last one, but i bet the other ones are just as good.

The Kingkiller series and The Wheel of Time are pretty good. The Wheel of Time got a bit shit when it was taken over by another author, but even those ones are better than most fantasy books and Robert Jordan had outlined the plot before he died so it's not an unforgivably huge difference.

How was the lord of the rings series? I read The Hobbit and part of Fellowship.
Dune is supposed to be OUTSTANDING. I've started book 1 but 850 pages is a lot to take in!
Also, I've started The Dresden Files. Book 1 is pretty good so far

Shanarra Chronicles are well worth it, only the first 21 books though the last 10 or so are a bit weak. The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant are an amazing series of books too. Terry Brooks has done a couple of great series worth reading. Game of Thrones are pretty good, lots of violence and sex.... Robert Ludlum is well worth your time, if you like that sort of thing. Too many books to name, I've got 1000s of books. Hard to sell them even though I only read my Kindle these days.

This man knows what he is talking about. But Sanderson is a great writer and I don't think it went to shit, but I only read WoT once so I'll keep an eye out for the difference, next time.
Here is your fantasy series starter kit:

This series, is one of the best. By far better writing than tolkein, Jordan takes fantasy to a whole new level. With 14 books in the series, it's understandable. Typical good vs evil battle, with so much character development you can't help but fall in love with it. One of the only real series with a group of badass women, too. Seriously, the women in this series are amazing.
The Kingskiller Chronicles, by Patrick Rothfuss:

So I clearly liked WoT, but Kingskiller is definitely the best series of this generation. It's a tale told in first person perspective of the heroe, Kvothe, and his rise to power and fame. The prose is poetic and beautiful and you will tear through this 1,000 page book in a matter of days. Check it out, it will amaze you. Please just listen to me and get this book, i've read most fantasy and this is the real deal.
THe Mistborn series!!

Also amazing. First three books are focused on overthrowing the Lord Ruler, a maniacal, all powerful overlord who rules over the land with an iron fist. There is a caste system in place and the heroes are not happy with it. His rule is absolute until one man survives the pits of despair and gains new powers in the process. This is a 6 book series and you can ask anyone who has read it, it's fucking phenomenal. Check it out as well. The magic system is very unique and it also has a female protagonist.
I'd probably start with Kingskiller Chronicles, then mistborn, then WoT because WoT is a fucking mission at about 10,000 pages. Sanderson, the writer of the mistborn series, is the one who wrote the last 3 or 4 Wheel of Time books after Robert Jordan died.

Dune is also a great series, but falls more under the sci-fi category.

I definitely do not recommend The Wheel of Time. I got to about the 5th or 6th book in that series before realizing the first third of each book simply went over what was in the previous book and that the story line was proceeding so slowly that it was out and out painful to read.
I would have recommended the Dark Tower series if you hadn't already read it. Did you also read The Talisman and Black House as they also touch on the same world described in the Dark Towers?
If you can get into 18th century English naval series the Hornblower (CS Forester) followed by the Ramage series (Dudley Pope). There is a 3rd larger series, one that the movie Master & Commander was based on, with Jack Aubrey as the main character (Patrick O'Brian).
If you like historical fiction Conn Iggulden has written a series of them. His novels covering the Mongolian empire are fascinating as are those about the Roman empire.

I actually thought the WoT books by Sanderson where awesome. Jordan just kept introducing new character and eventually it became somewhat of a chore to read all those different story-lines. I also thought that wolf guy to be somewhat of a moralistic prick.
Kingkiller series is awesome. I am just about to finish the second book
All books by Robin Hobb. Thats easily a years worth of reading. Start with the Farseer Trilogy
Dan Simmons - Hyperion Cantos (my alltime favorite series) - Ilium (also fucking brilliant)
Harry Potter series. Just read it, if you like fantasy you secretly want to be a sorcerer for sure

Here are a few classic sci fi I would love to RE read:
Out of the silent planet trilogy CS Lewis
Ender's Game series, I forget that authors name.
Ring world Engineers, I forget this author too.
All 3 books have really unique interesting takes on alien life.
The Halo video games stole the ring world idea pretty blatantly...

I own the last book still but I gave the first two to my ex a few years ago and never got em back I would certainly take yours off your hands you.
Any reason you don't think you will re read em? It is a pretty far out series but I love it's philosophical style as well as unique take on religious, spiritual and mythical ideas. I also just really love all the alien imagery throughout, I always hoped they would make a movie out of those books as it could be an incredibly artistic/ beautiful piece with all the alien landscapes Lewis describes.
