wow... really. Your going to compare a terror attack with people coming from another country who can freely move through the EU.

Your just wrong. Just accept it... why. YOU HAVE MASS MURDERS, THE MOST ITS JUST A FUCKING FACT

Look at any stats per captia. You have the most firearms murders. Removing guns may not make it go away but banning them will sure as shit make it go down. more guns on the other hand is making the problem worse.

The world literally laughs at you. I was in class today discussing this and everyone agrees that is just barbaric that you people let this go on. Even the NEWS... THE FUCKING NEWS laughs at you because you cant see the truth.

I took a long safety course to get my concealed permit and i'll tell you it was the best class I've ever taken.  I learned A LOT.  Most importantly, I learned my rights as a gun owner and the laws that I need to follow.

The class also went over different scenarios about when you might need to gun and as to whether or not that scenario granted lethal force.  ( such as being mugged, like OP mentioned ).

Youre that scared, really?? I see it as fear and the hope that youll be a hero one day. When you could end up being the opposite.

Anyway its disturbing how many of you are so ready to kill. You probably shouldnt have a gun.

Mr Magic, imagine your house getting shot at in the night, you clutching whatever you got to defend yourself and them driving off making him wonder forever after who hates him so much that they risk a felony like this, and whether they will come back to finish the job.

Cause that's what Herbologist's been through and yeah, you kinda want to concealed carry after that, law or no law, I can totally empathize with that.

He is too afraid, he must learn to let go of the gun mentally, but that he carries one is a matter of good sense.

I've heard of lots of families that protected themselves from intruders with guns.

But let me go ask my local criminals why they have a gun and I'll get back to you.

--------------------
How to get started in bulk:
Presto 23-Quart Pressure Cooker
BOD's Simple as FUCK Still Air Box
PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek
Munchauzen's Cultivation Video Series
How EvilMushroom666 Prepares His Grains (I use jars with Synthetic Filter Discs)
What is G2G? (Grain-to-Grain)
Damion5050's Coir Tek (I use 5.5 - 6 quarts of water instead of 4. Also ignore step 13 and ignore the monotub completely. The only purpose of this tek is to show you how to make a simple substrate. I also add gypsum to it but not necessary)
Spitball's Monotub Tek (A liner isn't necessary but is useful)
Use 6500k lights throughout the whole process. When you wake up, turn the light on. When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

In order to comply with the law (and to avoid accidentally killing someone) I keep my gun locked up in one case, my ammunition seperately locked in a seperate case.

In effect this means that in order to be legally stored in my country, they must be utterly useless for the defence of my home and family in a home invasion scenario.

A person could break the window, reach inside, unlock the door, enter the house and move to our bedroom in the span of 30-120 seconds.

Realistically I am not going to wake up out of a dead sleep, turn the light on, jump out of bed, run to the closet, get out the gun case, unlock it, take out the gun, run to the ammo, unlock it, take out the ammo, load the gun and be ready to use it to defend myself in less than 5 minutes.

Therefore, my gun must either be stored illegally and kept loaded beside my bed, in which case statistics indicate that I would be far more likely to accidentally kill myself or my wife then ever kill a home invader with it, or it must be locked up in such a way that there is no realistic scenario where I can use it to defend myself unless the intruder phones ahead of time to warn me he is coming.

For this reason my wife has a baseball bat and bear spray on her side of the bed, and I have a machete/sword.

The guns come into play in a societal collapse- a riot, catastrophe, natural disaster etc where widespread looting becomes a problem.

My strategy for defending my wife in a home invasion is as follows.

The door to our bedroom is locked. As soon as I hear a noise I grab my sword and position myself against the wall behind the bedroom door. When the door is broken open and a person enters the room, I will be positioned behind him. This will give me one chance to launch a surprise attack with the sword from behind, aiming at the neck.

A quick story along these lines- a friend of a friend had a samurai sword on his wall. Someone he knew broke in to his house with a shotgun to rob them for drugs and money. His friend grabbed the sword off the wall and cut off the guy with the shotgun's arm.

Fucked up situation all around.

Its good to have a self defense weapon. Currently my preferred one is a wakizashi, a razor sharp samurai short sword designed for indoor defense.

If I strike gold I want a Chinese War Sword too in case I have to take it to the street, simply because of this:

In a land with very little gun violence, a blade like that makes a very compelling argument

Yeah that would be scary ill admit. I live in a peaceful small town with little to no crime, so i really dont need a gun. Its just like i said before, i dont like thinking about all the people carrying guns, who could be holding it with good intenions, but then have their intentions change at any time.

Some people need guns. If I lived in a rural area with bears i would own a gun. Not sure how i feel about guns for self defense because inevitably some people will get worked up and pull it on someone. Also that 5 year old who took a gun from their house to school and killed a girl is scary. then again if someone came to hurt me or steal from me i would like to be able to blow their head off before they do any damage.

I do not understand why any bladed weapons are not allowed to be carried for self defense though. If you shoot someone they are probably going to die. Just move one finger and you are a muderer. With a bladed weapon there is a much better chance that someone will walk away once you cut them once or even brandish your weapon. I understand that the weapon can be turned on people but people deserve to protect themselves. And atleast blades give you a chance to calm down or rethink weather or not you want to be stabbed.

Cold Steel Swords is fucking awesome!

I am going to buy the Trench Hawk and training Hawk first, and later on a great sword and the training version of that :yesnod:

I keep a sword hidden in each room of my house as you dont know where you will be when something goes down... I have a chinese sword, a wakizashi and a katana as well as my Gerber Machete.

I think the Cold Steel trench hawk would be pretty much the ideal post catastrophe tool:

Most burglars here are cowards, they want to sneak in, sneak out, and run. Most robberies involve a knife but no stabbing. People are generally not particularly vicious here.

But I'd love to have a gun, not out of fear but, you never know what happens. Guns are fairly neutral to me, I guess cause of growing up plinking with air rifles. My first association is toy, my second association is defense against victimization.

The way I look at it is very simple-

If you want to keep your family alive you must have food and water.

If you have food and water and others dont they will try to take it from you.

Therefore you must protect your food and water if you want to keep your family alive.

In order to effectively protect your supplies from desperate people who dont have any, you need a gun.

Therefore, if you want to keep your family alive, you need a gun.

That, to me, is the end all and be all of any gun argument.

If you take away my Gun, you take away my ability to keep my wife alive.

If someone wants a cheap but effective sword like blade for in the home but wants to pay nowhere near the prices that real swords cost ($300 upwards) look into Machetes and Kukri machetes by Cold Steel. Very gnarly and yet disposably cheap.

They actually have a VERY attractive Chinese War Sword Machete for $35 that of course wont hold up to a sword but will be good enough for the first use, and thats what you need.

Gandhi, MLK and Jesus were right, violence is not the way. But, mess with a dog, mess with a cat, and you're gonna regret, they will even attack their owner if the owner goes too far. Self defense is natural. If you or yours are attacked its your duty to stop that attack.

Sometimes you got to fight.

Gandhi style Pacifism only works against an ethical enemy.

There are serial killers and sadistic torturers out there. This is just reality.

The idea that a strong person should not defend the innocent against the evil with force if needed is morally atrocious on every level.

Just imagine being a child and a psycho comes into your families house and your parents let that psycho rape and murder you out of some kind of idea that its what Jesus would do.

It just doesnt compute morally.

Exactly this, I didnt want to mention it but yes, completely this.

If I got a gun, that gun will only be used for righteous purposes, to defend on the side of the force of Good.

I'm not going to seek a gun, I just prayed that if God wants me to have a gun, that he'd bring me one. If it comes to me, I';m supposed to have it. This sounds nuts and dangerous to some atheists here but I think you know what I mean. The Universe gives signs aplenty to those who pay attention.

Defense is honorable.
Offensive Defense is honorable.
Offensive Offense is not.

You just dont attack people for personal gain or bloodlust, we agreed that we dont want that on any level except with mutual consent, like MMA.

the alligator story makes me want a gun as well. alligators are dangerous af and not human like whatsoever (like a gorrilla for instance) so there is no chance of negotiating with an alligator. anyway if i lived in fla i would have a gun because of alligators alone.

florida seems like a horrible place

i would love a stun gun or something like that but thise are illegal and the only mace available in my country is bear mace and you can get in shit for carrying it around to defend yourself from anything other than animals.

In my country you arent allowed to legally carry ANYTHING that us intended for self defense. No knives, kubatons or anything. And i live a few minutes away from the boarder where guns are smuggled in so its stupid that we arent allowed to carry weapons. The only knifes you can carry are knives which are i intended to be used as tools. So apperently any knife that looks intimidating or is being carried for defensebcould be confiscated by the police.
