you mean like "guns can never be banned because it's an INALIENABLE RIGHT" or "machine guns are perfectly legal in the US and you're wrong as usual koods" or maybe it's "AR-15s are in fact constitutionally protected"
yeah, i hate hearing those things
should i update my sig to include that democrats have murdered another 50 in orlando?
What gives you the idea that owning guns is an INALIENABLE right? The 2nd amendment can be nullified just like any other part of the constitution.
By declining to review a case, the Supreme Court upheld connecticuts assault weapons ban this morning.

With a government like this, the citizens are justified in wanting to be armed.

What does that have to do with guns? Apparently the US givernment got away with doing whatever it is in that list despite having an armed populace. Seems like guns are pretty useless stopping a tyrannical government.
Thank you for making that point clear

Actually the Supreme Court upheld states rights, I'm all for states like Cali and Connecticut and whatever other Libby state banning everything, just don't act like your state gets to tell my state what to do while you're at it

States do not have a right to violate the US constitution. Assault weapons are not protected by the 2nd amendment. If they were, then the Supreme Court would have had to rule the ban unconstitutional.

Lol, what? How are they not protected? Have you even read the 2A?

If the second amendment protected assault weapons then state bans on assault weapons would be found unconstitutional. They have not.
You should probably read up on the second amendment. Case law is clear that the second amendment only protects guns that are in common usage AND that are not unusually dangerous.

the 2A prohibits the FEDERAL govt from prohibiting guns,
And then there's states rights, nothing in the constitution prohibits states from restricting the 2A,
that is why the Connecticut weapons ban is constitutional,
What part of that don't you get?

I'd be more interested in finding out what his definition of unusually dangerous is. It should be pretty entertaining.

I personally own guns for protection and recreation, but the main reason I have guns is because I like to shoot and hunt sometimes. I also live in a pretty pro-gun part of a fairly pro-gun state. Almost all of my friends, neighbors, and coworkers own guns, and most of them have a concealed carry permit. Guns are also part of the culture where I live. My neighbor has a sort of extended party every year around thanksgiving where people get together and gamble with shotguns. It's fun, and there's no harm done. Personally I don't think there's any problem with owning a gun, Other than that it's difficult to do while living in a dorm, but I'm guessing your parents associate guns with crime or something like that. I had a buddy who was terrified that his mom would find out that he smoked pot because she thought it was always related to gang activity (she immigrated to the states from mexico). Some people have misconceptions about stuff like that. The best you can do is talk to your parents about why they don't like guns when the time is right. I'd wait until you get out of college. I kept my guns at home when I was at college because guns don't mix well with drunk city kids that are free of parental supervision for the first time in life.
