Increased empathy during a mushroom trip
    #23347273 - 06/15/16 01:05 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

So today I had my 4th mushroom trip, 2 grams of very strong cubes. I was tripping balls and was completely overwhelmed with emotions during some parts of the trip.

What I specifically wanted to share is that I felt extreme empathy at some points. For example, sometime around t+3, I felt like I could understand a rape victim that blames herself. In real life I can never do that, I would never blame the victim or even understand why victims blame themselves. But for a brief moment I could do that.

Another part was that I sort of got into the mindset of a rapist. Again, I would never ever lay a finger on anyone, but I kinda got a glimpse of the mindset of someone who attacks a woman. No idea why and what should I do with it. It is as if the mushrooms showed me how a normal person can become violent. I dunno.

Also, I listened to "Let it happen" by Tame Impala, and it's not like the lyrics are vague or anything, but I felt as if I personally know that guy who's losing his mind. Pretty scary.

For some reason, there was no introspection at all during this trip. It was just super intense the entire time, I usually get the introspection phase when things are a bit more calm.

Do you also get this crazy burst of increased empathy?

Im am empathic sober, I experience everything you do on a mushrooms in my every day waking life so on mushrooms of course it's increased. I can feel intention behind words, I can feel vibes, predict, and sometimes even hear what people are thinking, telepathic communications become easy.

yes, psychedelics have shown me how rapists, pedophiles, etc are people too and how have their own battle with evil and when they do the things they do, they are in a way acting out a lot of the anger, rage, hatred and perversity that the rest of society represses. I may have enough self control/compassion/wisdom whatever that I would never do such things but that doesnt mean i am a different order of being than the people who do and they still deserve dignity , compassion and a second chance (not saying they shouldn't be punished for their crimes of course).

and also when someone commits a rape or murder we tend to just blame the person who did it, as if everything would be fine if we just didnt have these evil people around. but psychedelics showed me how its all interconnected and like i said, these people are acting out energies which form an undercurrent in all our subconsciouncess. if we had a healthy, loving, supportive society we would not generate all these rapists, pedophiles and murderers. we all share responsibility for each other, though we also have our individual karma as well.

That rape thing you were talking about was looking out of context, mushrooms allows you too look at situations in completely new contexts or sometimes no context at all so the cosmic perspective can take over. This is why things around you or about you on shrooms can seem really foreign in the moment.

My first trip wasn't very introspective either. For some reason my first trip (even though it was really powerful) was actually not that profound, spiritual or even psychedelic. It was just really reality dissolving and ego crushing and felt very primitive.
Definitely wasn't nearly as profound, spiritual or introspective as my later trips though.

I've definitely had this multiple times. Me and my friends were coming up on acid and all our personalities started becoming very surreal and exaggerated and kept getting bigger and bigger. My girlfriend asked me if i ever cheated on her and i told her no. she said she didn't believe me. This was an ongoing issue at that point in our relationship. I woud get frustrated quickly and then she would think i'm being defensive. Then all at once we both understood where each other was coming from. i burst into tears as all the pain from her past relationship flew through me. (she was cheated on over and over again) I had lost my identity altogether that night and we talked about ourselves and our relationship from a third person perspective as if my human life were just a thing i would return to later and patch up.
There have been other times where the group of people i was with could read each others thoughts believe it or not. I have this theory that everyone is connected through 'the consciousness'. We are all instances of the same consciousness and our personalities were created because of things that happened in our life. We are 'god' and the only thing that exists.
You being able to understand a victim of rape blaming themselves for the rape was because you tapped into 'the consciousness' and learned someone elses point of view

well i dont remember my first LSD trip, at all really, actually i remember before my first real trip i took some very weak blotter and i was walking around looking at bugs and stuff but not really tripping and i told my girlfriend it wasn't working and she was like "maybe you're expecting too much" and I'm like no, sweetheart, I have heard/read way too much about LSD for this to be all it does.

but my first real acid trip, i dont really recall much from unlike my first shroom trip which i still remember like it was yesterday.

Have yoy ever read the chrisalids? I really hope so the world would be a much better place. I feel like it's actually a long lost ability. But we definitely have the capacity for it.

Ahh I hate when people say that. Because it's far too amazing to be let down by.

Thanks for the responses! It sure helps a lot to hear I'm not the only one who suddenly taps into someone else's mind.

I think the funniest part of the trip (except for the crazy yawns) was when I laid my head on the pillow, it felt like it's 10 foot deep. I just felt my head sliding down the pillow center forever.

This really depends. Some people expect flying pink elephants and cartoon characters to jump out of the tv and have conversations with them X'D

That's funny you say that cause most times I use psychs I end up having a yawn attack even if I'm wide awake. Could just be coincidence tho considering its usually night time

Yes but what actually happens when you trip makes seeing elephants look like kid shit. The experience should be a lot more mystical and profound than people expect.

If I saw flying pink elephants and dumb shit like that, I don't think I would have kept tripping so long. I think the bizarre shit that happens is much better than airborne pachyderms

Exactly. That seems to conventional and unimaginative and would probably be boring/disorienting.

People assume it's like deliriants they never typically expect it to be profound or 'mystical'
