Hi there, We have found these yellow mushrooms and would like to know what they are. Are they Psychoactive?
Habitat: Mostly found growing straight from a fallen rotting tree, or dead tree stump. The third example is the only instance where they were found not growing directly from a tree/wood.
Gills: The gill colour is a very light greeny/yellowy colour. The gills are joined at the stem.
Stem: Yellow at cap, fading to orange and dark orange at bottom of stem. Pretty strong and even size from cap to base. Roughly 0.2cm (20mm) to 0.5cm (50mm) wide.
Cap: Yellow with orange centre, smooth, 2-5cm across.
Spore print colour: A dark Purplish/Blackish
Bruising: No colour change was observed.
Location: South East Victoria, Australia.
We have found them in three different places and have posted photos from all 3 examples.
Example 1: From a dead tree stump (sorry didn’t take photo of the stump).

Example 2: Growing from fallen dead tree.

Example 3: Growing from a garden patch next to a building in a suburban area.

Can someone please ID them for us?
Cheers,
Shroom Porn.

Example 1 and 2 are not active, could be Galerina sp. do not eat. Example 3 are slightly more promising, I would do another spore print but leave for a longer time, in person do the spores appear Jet Black or Dark Brown? Hard to tell from the photo, I'm leaning more towards Panaeolina foenisecii, need another opinion though

Both are Hypholoma sp.

Hi there luluistheone and Anglerfish thanks for your replies.
I think they are Hypholoma looking at the google image results for that name. But there are many types of Hypholoma listed on wikipedia, lots without pages or information/photos.
Could you please explain what sp. means? Is it Hypholoma subdispersum? Sorry I've never heard of these mushrooms before, me = noob.
Do you know if they are edible/psychoactive?
Cheers,
Shroom Porn =)

"sp." is abbreviation for "species". No Hypholoma is active. I think you have Hypholoma fasciculare/capnoides. The first one is toxic, while the latter is edible.
