Hey Guys,
I think I was lucky today. Found these in the northern part of the southern island of NZ - under rotting leaves and gras. They bruised blue when damaged. http://imgur.com/a/50Ilc
I would also appreciate some advise concerning drying - does it do the job if I dry them on the wood burner? Thanks, i.

Yeah you defiantly have subs. Just make sure you don't have any undesirable mushrooms hiding in there (it's hard to tell what's at the bottom of the pile in your hand)...

You mean bugs? Should be fine. Wait in case someone says otherwise though.
If the mushrooms were legal I'd keep the nicest looking ones for myself and give away the others...

Most of the bugs will come out in the dehydrator. If you're going to boil them for tea, you can cut them up into smaller pieces and remove the unwanted flesh and clean it up for lemonade.

And you should upload to the site. I don't click offsite images and others don't either. It strips the image of EXIF data like device and geolocation automatically.

There's some visible umbo on the picture of the fistful. I'd print them all and save a piece for genetics. In cramped quarters like the first picture you'll see a lot of mushrooms lift their skirts like that. They're a bit mature and you see that a lot, too.
You can take those mycelial pieces at the bottom of the stem and throw them around your patch where mushrooms are already growing. It'll help make the patch stronger. I push my finger in like 2cm and plant it and loosely cover, or toss them and let them fall as they may. There should be more within a 10m radius of where you're at.. if you find overly mature ones you can take them home and turn them into a slurry of old material and spores. The fungal sugars, flesh, mycelium and spores can be dumped around a patch. I do this at the top of hills/dunes where the mushrooms will eventually grow down the slope when water brings their spores downhill in the coming years.

Well done on your first find!! If you have a hotwater cupboard that can do some of the drying at a pinch but finish them off with a fan heater so they are cracker dry.
Thanks for the interesting post Adden
