havin' trouble rooting my Pedros
    #23345695 - 06/15/16 01:17 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

So Ive already killed two cutting due to lack of care, and afraid I angered the spirits (had bad trip after killing those cuttings) feel like I must make amends by treating my new cuttings properly. so I followed the instructions on sacred cactus.com but I am still not getting roots.

Also, how do you check for roots? I cant think of any other way except to pull up the cactus, which seems like it would disturb the process, no?

I find it easiest with trichs to stand them in empty clay pots whilst waiting for roots. They are easily lifted and inspected. THen once roots are emerging, they can be potted up into a soil mix. Sometimes cuttings can be very stubborn. I've seen roots in 2 months with some, another middle cutting took 2 years to start on roots, and another year until I saw a pup

alot of cacti survive without roots, just avoid over watering to keep them from rotting and they will eventually put out roots. I had two cutting all winter that didnt root but as soon as I took them outdoors one grew roots right away and is putting out new growth and they other one stil hasnt rooted yet
