So just plucked these two alacenzi and one has just broke veil but there is something white underneath. Not sure of this please help me figure out what this is? White fuzz type material in the gills. One has a substantial amount (pictured) and the other is not worth uploading. Thanks Guys! D:

Looks like the other shroom with less white stuff has had the veil dropped longer while the one pictures still has the veil attached at the rim in some spots. Is this mycelial residue That has to dissipate before the spores drop? This is a little scary. My excitement is getting the better of me.

Never seen this before. No mold on cakes or anything just not sure if this is something to be worried about. White substance under gills of my two biggest mushrooms. Not sure what this is. Mycelium? Leftover veil? What ever it is it was there before the gills opened up and its keep some of the gills closed. I'm hoping it's leftover veil. Please help a newb identify this and educate me. I'm about 48 hours away from my first trip and i want everything to go smoothly. Thanks in advance.

Looks exactly like cube myc on the gills. How long have they been left out? You should be storing fresh mushrooms in the fridge in a paper bag

They are currently in a desiccant airtight drying chamber. Have been since they came off the cake 24+ hours ago. They are still very much fresh.

Get a cheap Nesco dehydrator and dry them quicker than that. They're going stale as I type. At 140F you can dry them in 4 to 6 hrs.

Couldn't i just put the whole desiccant chamber inside the oven with the pilot light on and do the same thing twice as fast?

Or you could get a dehydrator for $25 and be confident that you're not gonna burn up your fruits, or accidentally leave 5% moisture and have them all rot.

I know for a fact there is no moisture. i have professional grade desiccant and i'm checking the ambient temp in the oven right now. I don't have the time to be ordering a dehydrator. Can you link me or where do you get one?

It will be better than room temp you are now using. You need them down to cracker dry. The longer they stay moist the more chance for potency loss. Fresh only counts if you're going to eat them right away.
If you stick with this, make the investment in the dehydrator. You don't need to mess with dessicants that way either.

What's wrong with desiccants? What do you mean messing with it?

The dehydrator does all the work. You don't need to keep buying fresh bags of desiccant or recharging them in the oven. And not all dessicants are food safe so you have to watch for that. The other issue is time. The dehydrator is the autobahn to getting cracker dry mushrooms.

I thought heat kills the potency?

Yes, but at temps much higher than dehydrators run. People make tea with near boiling water and don't lose potency. I got my Presto dehydrator on Amazon. $25.

In case it was missed the fruits are reverting to myc in the moist airtight chamber you have them in. You need to get them out of the desiccate chamber and fan dry them if you don't have a dehydrator. Desiccate chambers only are for getting the last little bit of moisture out, they need to be 90% dry before you put them in.
Desiccate chambers and fan drying sucks balls IMO. I would not waste my time with that shit. Dehydrator FTW.
