Yo cigarette smokers.
    #23343009 - 06/14/16 11:25 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Any of you use the famous Hunter S. Thompson cigarette filter??

http://www.targard.com/permanent-cigarette-filters

I have a really hard time with quitting smoking. I've been back and forth between them and vaping a dozen times now, but recently I've stuck with smoking with these filters.

If youre like me and have a hard time quitting or just love smoking in general, i recommend using the permanent filter at least. It works very well at catching the thick tar along with some of the nicotine.

I've gotten used to using them now, so i tried a cig without and the difference was night and day. The filter doesnt effect the taste of the cigarette either in my experience.

Just putting this out there for you guys that smoke. You should really look into it. Itll save your lungs from some of the nasty shit at least.

Only drawback is having to clean them everyday (which is pretty easy though) or even a few times a day if youre a heavy smoker. If thats a problem you can buy the disposables and they work just as well.

I dont know how many smokers there still are out there, but i thought id mention it and my own positive experience with the filters.

Even if youre not an everyday smoker and only do it every once in awhile, its a nice thing to have around in my opinion.

You might as well just vape if you are addicted to nicotine, but are too stubborn to quit. With the filters, I feel like it would weaken the cigarette a bit overall, and probably have me smoke more often in the long run.

Lol niffla

Yeah vaping was working for me at first, but i just love the smoke from burning tobacco. Im addicted to the act of smoking them as much as the nicotine.

It is true that i feel like i can smoke more cigs than usual with the filters, but if you can keep your use down to normal its definitely worth it.

That shit gets nasty after a day of smoking through it, ill never smoke without them from now on.

If you can quit by vaping, then i recommend that over this obviously lol

I actually managed to quit using an ecig, and recently dropped down to 0 nicotine juice, but can't quit the ecig. I'm with you, it's the action of smoking(I don't need my ecig while smoking bud) than I'm addicted to more than the nicotine. Luckily, cookie flavored glycerin is close enough to keep me satisfied.

In all likelihood, those filters do nothing significant for your health.

Idk man, I can't speak for this filter specifically but I have watched the resin build up in others from lots of smoking and it is crazy how fast it happens. Look at bongs, you ever see how nasty the water can get after just 1 day of heavy smoking?

That's all tar that would be in your lungs... even if it doesn't make a huge difference it still helps

There's at least one population study showing that if you cut your smoking in HALF (go from smoking 15 cigs a day to about 7) there's no difference in health outcomes.

It illustrates that toxic effects of cigs are an extremely steep dose-response curve, the miniscule difference in tar provided by a filter probably doesn't do anything.

Well personally I only smoke cannabis so I am talking tar mainly

I still would question the accuracy of a study like that, maybe some health risks stay the same but it seems like smoking more would make at least some issues worse...

Once again there are a lot of filter methods too. I have a cheap but heavily perked bong and I can watch it turn yellow from tar grossly quick.

:whathesaid:
Thats after just a few cigs. Once you go through 10-15 that fills up with a ton of tar.

Unfortunately I no longer have any of them.

Nah youre good  yeah i buy mine from them. Id recommend you buy some of extra little black O rings. They have a bag of those seperate.

Its all pretty cheap though for how durable they are. Just clean them every night before you go to sleep, thats what i do.

Plus youll never burn your lips again! I always did that idk about you lol

I quit smoking a few years ago. I tried a cigarette today to see how it made me feel, and it was not pleasant. I have had a couple cigarette holders in the past, I don't think they were filters though. I want one for doobies.
