What Is Insanity?
    #23342182 - 06/14/16 05:07 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

One popular definition is "insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result".

We could also describe that definition as optimism, or persistence.  Hope for the best, expect the worst, so do the same thing over and over hoping things will change while accepting the insane result.

Dishonesty is insane because the sacrifice of others for our own benefit leads to the sacrifice of children for our pleasure.

Ergo insanity is dishonesty.

No it's not.  You are lying.

Some of the most powerful people are deeply into child sacrifice.  Are you calling all of them insane?

In Dresden, we call them "Bilderbergers".

To the extent that the masses allow themselves to be ruled by satanic baby eaters who are the crazy ones?  Who are the deluded ones?  Who bows down to her royal highness?

And yeah I agree, OP. As genius as Einstein was, his definition of insanity is way too simplistic. That is, of it's even really his quote.

First person reality is insanity.

Culture is insanity.

How does life make sense - and no sense - at the same time?

All these rubber, plastic, metal, shiny, things, everywhere are just toys.

Stupid game. I just don't seem to get it. Can't grasp my mind around why I should contribute anything to this system (Cliche?).

Why work? So that I could collect some more toys?

And the guy shitting out the most toys out of his egotistic rectum, wins?

The big "adult" guy, with his penthouse and shiny things?

And I should be grateful to this guy, boxing up imagination and feelings and experiences and people like that, in the confines of four walls, and shoveling it into our mouths?

So that we shit the pretention out even further?

So much so that it seeps out of the screen and pages and speakers and stages into reality?

And we should all aspire to be a curator, collector and distributor of these insignificant, limited droplets of shit?

Fuck that.

Haha, whoa. I actually am beginning to feel mad now. Okay - never mind!

Insanity is believing that things which are not in reality are real.
Simply said it's a mental state of being unable to tell the difference between reality and imagination.

Yes sudly, I think that's right.  Psychosis is the inability to discern true reality from false perception, and someone having a psychotic episode has a lot of spurious perceptions flying at them very rapidly.

I would like to share a little blurb on the subject by Ram Dass that is very interesting imo:

Quote:

"...there are points in the transformation in beings where they "can't keep it all together."  That is, where more is happening to them than they fit, so that they can't keep all the planes together at any one moment.  So they get stuck in one plane or another.  A schizophrenic goes into one and then flips back into the other, and flips back and forth.  Somebody that's totally psychotic stays in another plane.  Somebody that is a total anxiety neurotic is afraid to leave this plane.  You know, there are all these deep, different gradations."

Clearly a very sobering topic.

I think ignoring reality for someone without a mental illness is far more insane than someone who is actually insane but behaving insanely which for them is typical and usual.  An example is a tobacco smoker ignoring the reality that it will harm their health, and cost them money, and cost them insurance premium money, cost them time and give them only a bad habit in return.  That's ignoring reality and insanity.  Probably some instant gratification thing and a childlike sucking activity resembling breast feeding.

lol.. the reasons behind smoking are many, one would be deliberate self harm akin to cutting yourself, or just habit, or a way of taking control of death, or the company you keep, or to look cool, or longterm addiction..
