So many contams =(
    #23339444 - 06/13/16 12:56 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

i really suck at this stuff. i've done 2 barely successful  grow now, and this third one is looking to be about as successful. used multipsore syringes from reputed shroomery vendors and yet still lost half of my BRF jars, all 3 of my BRF bags, and now it looks like i'm going to lose my 1 quart rye berry jar. thats about half of the things i inoculated =(.

anyways, my question is what are these things and what can i do about them? are they truly contam (pretty sure they are but theres a lot of contradictory sounding info out there)? if they are contam, i've heard some people using salt or dilute bleach solution in the massive amount of reading i've been doing....but seems certain people say it can only be done on small spots on cakes, others say not on cakes at all, others still say just toss it or you'll contam everything....i'd really like one correct answer here! should i mix everything up into bulk spawn? should i excise the bad spots, THEN mix everything up? should everything get its own fruiting chamber? all the reading i've done has seemed to only leave me with more questions, not answers...

in the above pic, it's a bit hard to tell but there are a couple spots of a very powdery looking green contam on the rye berries. its a 1 quart jar. is this what they call "trich"? what options do i have for dealing with whatever it is?

same jar, same problem, same questions

in this pic, it's again a bit hard to tell but theres a small blue spot. as you can see, this BRF jar seems to have colonized very well. contam spot just showed up a couple days ago. what is this, and what are my options? i've had other jars from this batch get this same contam, but they weren't nearly as well colonized so i just threw them away. i have hope for this one though because of all the other pretty white mycelia growth. is that naive?

this one is weird, haven't had this contam before. theres a tiny orange spot on this almost 100% colonized brf cake. can it be saved?

please help. don't know what i'm doing wrong....the jars i made myself i bought an expensive as shit All American PC and cooked them at 15 psi for 90 minutes as prescribed by the tek, used a still air box in an extremely clean room, flame sterilized the needle ect....maybe it's time i moved away from spore syringes into liquid culture to "get a head start on contams" as they say? though i also just read a post that said liquid cultures are more likely to cause contams because you can't see the contams they carry...yay i love contradictory information when i'm trying to learn  ....

Because the bursting grains? I knew it!! That's definitely not my fault right? Just don't buy from that vendor anymore, right?
