Do you guys play open ended or crossed? Favorite types of cymbals and set ups?
I have a five piece mutt. Pearl bass drum, the Tom's are from huntington beach, my, hi hat and crash are both zildjian 14 and 18 inches, my ride is 18 inches from paiste along with my litle splaah cymbal. Any shroomey drummer's?
Also this read doesn't have to be limited to drums. All instruments are welcome unless you play the triangle or some shit
And here's another pick from the front

I play everything from RHCP and other rap sons that use live instruments. Check out maybach music 2 by TI to get a feel where I'm coming from.but I also love the Mars Volta and some of Johnny craigs solo stuff for sure

Nice set up man! A drum kit is next on my musical list but I doubt I will find space for awhile.
I just got a bass though which has helped cover my rhythm needs
I have a cool double sided ethnic hand drum though as well as a tank drum.
Percussion is awesome, I intend to make some bamboo xylophones this summer too.

I have 2 kits. My large session kit is a Pearl maple/mahogany 12 ply with a 6 1/2 brass snare and 12 cymbals. All rack mounted. Rounded off with blocks, cowbells, and a double kick pedal on a 22" bass drum. its similar to a Carter Beauford setup from Dave Matthews Band
My jazz kit is a birch 4 piece. 12,14,20 with a birch snare.
I used to work in a few music stores so I was able to pickup deals and buy trade ins. a lot of my stuff I got when the store I worked at went out of business.

I made a shroomery drummers unite thread before...
... ill fish it up later. EDIT: or now
"Percussionist of the Pub Unite"
...I play on a vintage Ludwig black panther kit. New G2 series heads and just got new Ludwig hardware and heads and cymbals. It has two 22'/24'? kick drums and a Ludwig galaxy black sparkle acrolite snare. I inherited from my grandfather who passed years ago now.
Ill post some pics later... I play all sorts of music, main focus is Jamaican reggae/ska. But, really its eclectic at this point. I can read and write drum music.
Im also a hand percussionist... so all around percussionist. Djembe, congas, bongos, dun-duns, ashikos, claves, etc, etc
I started with hand drumming traditional African rhythms. Now i play all sorts of riddems and grooves. I love drumming.
chicken noodle soup: for the drummers soul.

This isn't percussion related at all but I have been wanting to learn saxophone for a long time now, well recently I found people make cheap but beautiful sounding bamboo saxophones. I was considering saving up for a nicer 1-200$ one but I just found an "andean saxophone" on a Bolivia import site, they had a plain one for less than 30$ and a more decorated one for 33$!
Here is the more expensive one which I just bought for right under 50$ including 2 day shipping from Bolivia
Hopefully is is nearly as nice sounding as the others I have been looking at... Just wanted to share that. Eventually I hope to make my own bamboo sax.

I had a drum kit, but ended up selling it. This was back in high school. I loved playing, but really didnt have the time to practice with school+work and everything.
I had all clear evan heads on mine. It was just a standard snare, 2toms+floor tom, bass drum, 14in hi hats,18in crash/ride (which was really shitty) lol
I see you have remo heads. I dont remember exactly what type evan heads i had.
I feel really stupid now for selling it. ill get back into it one day though. I actually felt sadness when i watched the buyers take it away.
I have a guitar but no pic of it on my phone lol i do have time to practice the guitar, but i dont do it often enough.
Fuckin king of procrastination right here man

I played the drums in the school band from kindergarten to 5th grade and the only piece of gear my parents got me was a pair of drumsticks. A simple 5 piece would have been a dream come true.

That, and your angles. They should line up evenly with no gap. Your mounting system is the hardest to work with, it might not get perfect, but it can be a lot better than that.
Sometimes you have to raise your seat and your snare for it to work best. A clean even setup will make you look better, feel better, and subsequently play better.

What brand set is that? Tama? And what kind of crash you got there? I'm guessing ZBT
Edit/ sorry didn't read your original post just looked at your pic
I play on an old gretsch 5 piece, with a Ludwig supraphonic snare. I have the paragon set, 22" ride 16" crash and 14" hats. 17" A custom crash which is my favorite. I have a custom splash I had made by an artisan cymbal maker, thing sounds amazing. And I have a bunch of Wuhan China's because why the fuck not?

Sloppy you just reminded me of these two listings I have been eying on Craigslist for custom Cymbals that are super beautiful:
They both were originally listed for around 500$ a piece but are now more around 300 after being re listed several times...
I wish I had a ton of money to put together a drum set, I would buy them in a heartbeat if so. Just look at how unique they both are and I imagine they sound great too.
