remove the foil. It's not helping anything. Covering the holes with tape might cause them to stall, so don't.

Well i do apologize because i could not find my question anywhere.
Specifically that my premade jar had been shipped therefor could have gottem the top layer of verm moist, which would render that top layer pointless.
I couldnt find that situation in any of my searches for "foil or no foil?" or "microtape" ect...

Knowing whether or not to remove foil doesn't get you a tag and a TC is not what you requested in the first place.
It's just cakes. If you're going to hold out for TC's, then you will spend a lot of time waiting. This is a public forum and you don't get to decide who posts in your threads.

As said there are a lot of knowledgeable and respected people here who do not have a tag. They give their time freely, often times waisted answering questions for people who don't appreciate it, to help take the load off of the few TC's. Enemy #1 here is bad info, if someone gives bad advice here it is corrected fast. Also what the rating system is for. Don't know if you can trust the advice check the ratings, if someone goes around giving bad advice their ratings will reflect that.
If you are that picky about where your answers come from you may be waiting a long time, or eventually no one but noobs will be willing to give you advice, kind of a slap in the face of the many other helpful members of this community.

So wait the question at hand is whether or not you should remove the foil?
That's so easy to look up.. Try some keywords. Basically "foil during colonization" is all you need to look up. Seriously though, TCs are a great source of information, but it's not like the people who aren't TCs have nothing to offer.
I looked up foil during colonization and 2nd thread down I found this..

A TC is the only person that should be trusted to give advice about whether or not foil should be removed or micropore tape should be used because we are the only ones that know what tape and foil are for. It's insider knowledge that never gets explained in the teks or the countless threads with the same question. Even RR deletes his posts with the explanaition so we can keep it a trade secret. Without knowing what the tape and foil are for, you can't answer this very specific question because it's a kit and the knowledge can't be transfered

The question isn't as bad as the insistence of only wanting "RR or respected cultivators" to answer it. Only the very noobiest of noobs can't answer this question and most noobier nnobs still can.
I can relate to wanting only the best advice, but this is a public forum and this question is far from requiring advanced mycologists to answer. You don't have to put people on ignore to ignore their advice.
If you want advice from particular people or groups like TCs, then use a filter in your search or read the tek again. If you know what the foil and tape are for, then you know the answer to your question is the same for kits or DIY. If you don't know what the tape and foil are for, then you haven't done much searching because it's been explained countless times.
