This should be posted again after this maybe...it's so mind blowing.

Kinda like the 'drug testing your desk' post. Someone should bump that back up cuz everyone needs to see it. It's so amazing.

Why is everyone so freaked out by this? So Bush was nominated. So what?

Yasser Arafat was not only nominated, he actually won.

Considering the context in which he won, I think it was actually understandable. It was him AND Yitzhak Rabin that won the prize together for their movement towards an Israeli-Palestinian peace, and maybe they might have been more successful had Rabin not been assassinated.

I think that you have to have a clear understanding of what peace is before you can judge the merits of this nomination. Peace is not necessarily the absence of war, it can be the triumph, even in a military sense, of good over evil. Removing the Taliban and Saddam probably did more to advance causes that liberals have stuck up for in past years than any actions that liberals have done. Marching in the streets didn't bring as much woman's rights as overthrowing the Taliban did. Just because he initiated war against evil doesn't mean that he isn't peaceful.

After reading what you wrote its clear to me you don't have that clear understanding of what peace is. One more war on the road to peace huh? Bullshit.

:-\

Think of it like this:
Had Hitler successfully taken over the entire world, it would be united as one, and people would have been together as a whole. Togetherness and unity is peace right?

When we defeated Hitler, it was also considered the making of peace because a war was ended and a brief period of unity among nations began then as well.

Peace has no real defition, either that or it is just completely unethical. Fuck peace, fuck war; Just as long as everyone gets fucked, it's all good.

Marching in the streets didn't bring as much woman's rights as overthrowing the Taliban did.

The Northern Alliance, who now effectively control Afghanistan, were considered so brutal in their repression, murder, rape and torture of women that the Taliban were considered a relief from them.

Remember, reality isn't always what George Bush tells you it is.

Well according to dictionary.com peace amongst other things is " The absence of war or other hostilities"

No it cant. Only if you are using a Neo-con/Orwellian dictionary.

Care to expand on that a little? The women of Afghanistan are supposedly better off now? Is that what you are getting at? Im far from convinced that is the case..any sources(excluding quotes from Bush of course!)

If you initiate a war you cannot be considered peaceful. Repeat it over and over until your powers of logic and comprehension return to you.

Well gawlee shucks, I sho am glad you are here to sho ignernt me da lite! Fo shickens, me and georgieboy been hangin out and just a-talkin about dem afganni peeoples.

*sigh*

I have seen footage of women being executed in a soccer stadium in Afghanistan for not wearing their burkha's, and I've seen footage of women being allowed to drive a motor vehicle in that crappy desert nation of theirs, one was pre-liberation, one was post-liberation. Is Afghanistan a hotbed of civil rights and equality for all now? No, probably not, but it's better off than it was. Can you just not see things in a grey situation, it's eithe rblack or white? I'm sure that you'd have to agree that the rights of the everday person in AFghanistan are now more protected than they were under the harsh dictatorship of the Taliban. Actually, you just might not ... which is sad. Your little label maker has imprinted itself so deeply upon your ego, you aren't even fighting for what "you" beleive in, you aer just fighting against what sparks up against your ego.

Another label-maker hm? So if I saw a man beating his kids with a baseball bat, and I kicked his ass, you wouldn't see any moral difference in either action, because both are actions of violence, and you also wouldn't say that my goal was peace? You liberal, troglodite, homophobic, pre-mccarthyist neo-fonzie-liberal-tarian! *rolls eyes*
