so i took transfers from this plate 4 days ago. instead of throwing away the plate, i decided to intentionally cough on it and see what happens. i guess i have super agar because there's no new contams on the plate so far. (the two small dots of bacteria at 6 and 3 were already there when i did my transfer)

thanks. it's my baby it usually doesn't look that stringy though. it's probably because i coughed on that plate and didn't use saran wrap when storing it for 4 days.

Those plates still look like they're okay to me, Adden. I'd take transfers sooner than later with that heat, and maybe another one after you get the A/C situation in order.

The 'stringyness' is rhizomorphic growth. A lot of people look for what when selecting cultures.
There is a bacteria colony around the 6 o clock mark I just noticed though. That might be from your coughing.

Thankfully it's going back to 60s tomorrow; I'll get that done straight away. A lot of work to be done now that I'll be able to run the PC. Kind of upset but lesson learned I guess. To be completely fair, a lot of them were wild prints I was going to make clean transfers from. Heat just accelerated all the baddies. Have a third back up KSS plate that's just starting a bullseye dead center in the dish.
I've gotten from wild print to third clean xfer, just never did anything with them; they were forgotten about and dried up and died. Square 1, but at least I know I can do this.

It was there beforehand, that's why he's making transfers.

Coughing on healthy mycelium isn't going to do much, it's pretty resistant to that stuff. But your cough found the virgin agar in that one spot on the bottom, that will grow to be nasty after a few days.

well if you look at when/where i did my transfers, there was still 25% of the plate uncolonized at the time. i was expecting it to be covered in bacteria but i guess my mouth is pretty clean. and that dot at 6 o clock was already there. (that's why i was doing a transfer) i'm going to keep it for a few more days and see what happens

Just curious why you only took a single transfer instead of a couple? The clone is a huge producer, wouldn't you want a couple on hand for the fridge or something?

I think since he has all of the process pics already, that is probably a plate that came off a slant already. So he probably has fridge cultures of that guy already
